Nvf Magazine founder David Byron recently interviewed a bunch of women (including Pretty/Scary's editor Heidi Martinuzzi) for a book on chicks in horror movies called Queens of Scream: The New Blood.

Also interviewed were Brenna Lee Roth (Killer Biker Chicks, Grind House Glory), Scarlet Salem (Killer Biker Chicks), Bianca Barnett (Albino Farm), Nicole Kruex (aka Nikki Homicide K, Zen: Hunter), Rachel Grubb (13 Hours in a Warehouse), Seregon O’Dassey (Ghost Watcher 2, False Face), Evie Effects, April Monique Burril (Chainsaw Sally), and Monique Dupree (Bachelor Party in the Bungalow of the Damned) plus a special guest appearance by former Hammer Films starlet Ingrid Pitt, whose portrayal of Countess Dracula gave a new meaning to the term Scream Queen long before it became popular for future generations of horror film fans.

The book will be out in July 2009 from BearManor Media

Update, new media from The Chainsaw Sally Show

23 April 2009 8:48 AM, PDT | Fangoria | See recent Fangoria news »

Indie filmmaker JimmyO Burril sent along a new bloody image from The Chainsaw Sally Show, the on-line series spinoff of his 2004 feature, which we last told you about here. He also gave us an update on when fans will be able to view the sanguinary sitcom, starring April Monique Burril in the title role.

“The show will start the first week of September and will run one episode a week for 11 weeks at www.chainsawsallyshow.com,” Burril tells us. “For now, people can follow the Sally Show v-blogs [see the latest one below] on YouTube or at our Forbidden Pictures website. We’re shooting through June, and we have much more killing to do!”

[DVD Review] Come Hell or High Water

7 April 2009 4:50 PM, PDT | JustPressPlay.net | See recent JustPressPlay news »

There have been westerns almost as long as the medium of cinema has existed. The first ever-narrative film, Edward Porter’s 1903 twelve-minute milestone The Great Train Robbery was a western. In terms of sheer cinematic proliferation, the western simply stands unmatched and there is a very good and very simple reason – they’re bloody cheap. A couple of guys, a couple of horses and some wide-open space and you’ve essentially got yourself a western. But just because you can do something doesn't necessarily mean you should nor that there is value in doing that thing.

With that in mind we arrive at Come Hell or High Water, writer-director Wayne Shipley’s Dv, no-budget, horse opera where, at first glance, a Maryland amateur dramatics society comes together to chart the vast outreaches of incomprehensible thespian inadequacy. Coming across like some bizarre hybrid between a civil war reenactment, a wild west »

Filmmaker JimmyO Burrill sent along a bunch of exclusive pics (see them below the cut) from the first round of shooting on The Chainsaw Sally Show, along with a report on its progress. He also passed on a few advance images from an upcoming comic starring the Chainsaw Sally character, played in both the Show and the previous movie by his wife, April Monique Burril.

Chainsaw Sally Show carves ahead

19 February 2009 9:53 AM, PST | Fangoria | See recent Fangoria news »

Fango got an update recently from independent filmmaker JimmyO Burril that he’s about to head into production on The Chainsaw Sally Show. The on-line spinoff of his 2004 feature, originally announced last year, will once again star his wife April Monique Burril in the title role.

“We finally, after the essential indie setbacks, go into production on the Sally show this month,” he tells us. “I’m reasonably sure there is nothing else quite like this around…a slasher written as a sitcom, including studio audience response—applause and laughter—for the kills, and of course ‘ooooohs’ and ‘ahhhhhs’ for any sexy moments. Should be fun!”

Gore pioneer Herschell Gordon Lewis (who had a small role in the Chainsaw Sally movie) is official presenter of the series, which will air on-line at an official website that has yet to open. Episode collections will also eventually be offered on DVD with »
