I am pole so i should understand the language and also polish mentality. In fact, the repulsive and overly excessive vulgarity seemed to be the main theme of the movie. In the name of creating a "natural cinema" the director seems to indulge himself with language rarely heard even in real jail, truly. Post Communist trauma still affects him grossly if we listen to the inquiry scene at the end of the movie. It's gullible, naive, well worn out talk of the 60's and 70's then so popular in Polish cinema. Come on! This should be a movie not a theater. Vocies are not natural, talks too perfect, too polished, very much as those expected to hear in a theater.. And that horrible sens of Timing!! Again and again Polish clumsy sens of timing dominate everywhere. I mean almost in every scene! At times pathetic, shell we say?...Please, take a scene from Aldomovar's "bad Education" where the boys see priest's shoes under the door (no more than a second of it and plenty to tell what was there to tell) and compare this to similar scene from this film where a girl is trying to open the obviously locked door for no less than 9 second! Perhaps make sure that nobody from the audience misses the point that the door is indeed locked with no consequence anyway. it's like this: Look, please, look again and see if it is locked for sure :-)). Now, that is clumsy movie making exercise to the extreme. It is embarrassing. It is above all an unintelligent manipulation of an important movie making tool such as "TIMING". That movie is not brilliant, the theme not new. The voice of the main character (the kid) is that of a "high society" circles, over-sweetened and innocent then fitted to the jail and street living kid. It's not easy to pick up a child to suit given role and this movie is an obvious prove of it. Is there anybody to help me to understand what the Director wanted to show in this movie, please? Apart from pointless nudity.. Should you see this movie? Only perhaps to prove me wrong and i wish you good luck in so doing :-) Taner 86
