Short and catchy is the best thing to say about this short as substance is not it's strongest point. The film opens with a wire framed spirit talking to the singer before it starts to blend old wives tales with blues music to good effect. Describing it as a `history of blues' is a little generous as really it is more an impression of the history rather a factual description of the history. However the music and the character help shape the impression rather than just be a timetable of events.

The animation is colourful and enjoyable. The characters are helped more by the voices than expressive animation. The animation comes into it's own when it is mixed with the music and has the soul and colour of the music.

Overall this is an enjoyable short. It has good music, warm characters and warm colour. You won't learn a terrible lot from it but it does well for it's running time.
