'Give And Take, And Take' is a definitive movie in the British Film Industry., 1 November 2003

Superb! A thoroughly entertaining movie, already establishing a cult following, set in the East End of London. It is apparent that the director is an avid fan of the genre he portrays in this movie. Additionally, the characters in this movie have an aura of realism about them, and watch out for some brilliant, yet comic, cameos. A must see movie by all accounts, and one for which the director deserves much credit.

Give and Take, and Take is about Will Kane (an understandable reference to
Gary Cooper's character in High Noon) and Ricky Hammond (a ref to 48
Hours?
- This is a kind of buddy movie afterall), two likeable crooks doing
little
errands for gangsters in London's famous East End.
After they decide to cut open an old, dead friend of theirs to retrieve
condoms full of heroin from his gut, events turn nihilistic (more
so!).
A colorful, imaginative low budget crime action film, there is a clever
balance of genuine plot and intense action too. I spotted knowing
references in there to LA Confidential, Lock, Stock and 2 Smoking
Barrells,
Heat, True Romance, Reservoir Dogs, Alfie, El Mariachi, King Of New York
and
Mean Streets. I think the film makers probably want that to be part of
the
fun. See how many you can spot!
Cool indie flick.

Thoroughly entertaining cult action flick with memorably-distinct characters, gritty East-end realism and most importantly, a lot of heart. A welcome breath of fresh air upon what is otherwise a stale British Film Industry.

Nice one you people who made this... I am prone to buying lots of budget junk too see just how good some of the bad stuff is and to see whether 'I could make that'. I have seen a lot of bad stuff but for a Brit this ain't bad at all. I've lived here 8 years now and seen how forgetful some of these UK so-called 'big-budget' movies are like with so-called 'brit celebs' in them. My advice is to stick on these up-and-coming actors and directors as they seem to know how to get the best out of a budget. No wastage here, and I like some of the shakiness - gives a kinda independent edge to it. I know I ain't gonna get the cash to make my own London-crime drama, but if I did I probably wouldn't do as good as this shot. Perhaps with a bigger budget it could have been better and they coulda got more songs in where its a bit quiet on the action front. Sweet.

I had really low expectations of this film but was blown away by it! For a
£10,000 budget I expected production values akin to barrel scraping porn but
it was paced well, acted ok, edited sharply, directed with flash, and
actually had a few subtexts abounding which you would not expect from a
genre piece like this.
Ok, so it's stylised to the point of comic at times and won't win any
awards but the dialogue has a kind of rococo quality reminiscent of Things
To Do In Denver When You're Dead, and for a low budgeter the film makers
actually seem to have some concept of visual style: The film begins glossy
and sun drenched, but then as the genre bends and events take a serious and
tragic tone, the weather actually changes with the film, until we're left
with the hero and his ass kicking gal walking off, hand in hand, into the
Autumn afternoon.
You wouldn't have thunk it but this is almost excellent!

I saw this film after I heard about it from a friend who is into all things gangsta... I look at the cover art and thought <cheesy> but now I realise how wrong I am. With good looking lead guys, serious dialogue with a hint of humor - I was surprise by these efforts of low budget movie-making. Action bits were pretty good but I only wish there was more butt-kicking by the gals! A good movie, I would like to know/see more about these Troubled Children Films makers...

This film has a lovely low-budget gritty charm that is quite irresistible - u gotta like the film as a whole. The leads are very engaging for unknowns actors. The only qualm I have is for the lack of juicy meat the female roles have! Otherwise an interesting film. I am intrigued by the makers of the film - Troubled Children Films - someone give them a contract, they seem weird, cool and cutting edge from their website. The people whose reviews precede this one are being too harsh methinks...they should wise up and recognise talent even in its rawest form...! Those are my two cents! RR

Pretty good low budgeter from the cockney east-end of London. The most surprising bit is the plot... It actually has some intricate planning and is paced well for a film that was obviously shot with very little money and prob very little time. NB - The director also wrote and edited the film so kudos must go to him for his tremendous efforts. Recommended action movie.

I watch this film just before Christmas, and was very entertained by the plot and life-real feel in this 'flick. It was by luck I see the review of this film on IMDb website, and was compelled by the directors notice. I also look at directors web site So i went to great length to get a copy, which i did through friend who live in London (England). This is good low budget entertainment at it's 'purest form'. The characters are passable,OK, but the beauty is in storyline, and the directors love of this 'genre'. This is a type of film that give you enjoyment, more so than a lot of 'hollywood big budget' no-sense. I do not understand the poor regard this movie was held in by my fellow IMDb members. This is kind of film that is very popular in my country, and in nearby Kazakstan and Turkmenistan. Film = good, acting = OK, director = v.good (god bless this one)

This film seems to have more takes in the title than it did during filming. Give and Take and Take has obviously been a labour of love to make. It's just a shame that it's more of a labour to watch. Performances, Plot and characterisation are laughable. It's just a shame the jokes aren't. Avoid.
