I came across Denis Leary for the first time only about two weeks ago on his "Christmas" special on the Comedy Channel and thought that anyone who had the cojones to do that was all right with me. The bleeps were annoying but I had no doubt what was being said at any given moment.
I also saw part of this "roast" a few nights ago but saw the DVD at the library yesterday and got it out. It seems as though none of these people can be funny without the F-word or S-word (unbleeped on this DVD), both of which I'm very familiar with. Now I don't object to them but when it's every other word, it stops being funny. Give it a break guys and girls! The DVD had the complete rebuttal by Denis in the special features and it can be seen why they abridged it "to fit the air time". Much of it fell flat and I think that's the real reason.
I think anger and four-letter words are fine but there should be some reason for them. For the most part, this was not the case here.
Judging by the nearly universal vote on my "useless" review, I'd say Denis has many fans. Obviously, I am not one of them!
