On a budget of $500, a DV camera and Adobe Premiere, Kotrla and his buddies have managed to make a funny, quirky horror movie about stupid slackers and their desire to kick some Monster A**. Written with extreme wit, "Monster" will shock you and have you laughing your butt off. Kotrla bends and twists the horror/comedy genre to his whim and leaves you wanting more. Don't let the budget or the fact that it's on DV fool you. The soundtrack, part goth, part techno - is out of this world, the actors are fun to watch, natural and at ease with each other. The editing is fabulous. It's another great addition to the totem pole of great DV flicks out there. Return of the Forest Monster is not to be missed.
Although it drags a bit in parts, which is a common flaw with low budget films, this little film is pretty fun. The characters are funny, the actors are obviously having a lot of fun with the concept, and there are some great one liners. The plot may be a bit bare, but better that than the usual low budget fare of a needlessly overcomplicated plot shot with poor lighting to appear "arty." This movie is pure simple clean cut cleanly lit fun. I definitely recommend this if you like horror movies but also know how silly horror movies are. This movie has some real fun with some of the clichés. Great jobs guys, can't wait to see what you do next.
