MythBusters (TV Series 2003– ) Poster

(2003– )

Kari Byron, who joined the team in season 2, can be seen in Jamie's shop working on a computer in the first episode. Interestingly, it also happened to be her first day on the job as an intern for Jamie Hyneman.
Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage are known for not being friends off-set.
To date (2015) MythBusters is the longest-running TV series in the Discovery Channel's history.
Jamie Hyneman and Grant Imahara are both former competitors in BattleBots (2000).
On the show Adam Savage is frequently wearing t-shirts with various references to, and quotes from, the show printed on them.
Series creator/producer Peter Rees originally pitched the show to all the Australian TV networks but all of them turned him down. Rees then pitched the show to the Discovery Channel which picked it up.
The chemical molecule you see in the newer intros of Mythbusters is fictional and doesn't resemble any real molecule.
Adam's line "I reject your reality, and substitute my own" is a quote from The Dungeonmaster (1984). Jeffrey Byron's character says the line.
Adam shows off his complete Indiana Jones costume in the Motorcycle Flip myth, but his replica Indy jacket makes regular appearances throughout the series.
Among the shelves of spare parts on the M5 Industries workshop where the series is filmed are boxes which purportedly contain:
  • Seat Belts
  • Rolled Wire
  • Plexi Scraps
  • Clay (Colored)
  • Putrid Pork
  • Rubber Balls
  • Sports Balls
  • Plastic Tubes
  • Fresh Fish
  • Leg Gear
  • Extension Cords
  • Suits and Booties
  • Safety Harness
  • Fiber Optics
  • Small Pumps
  • Netting
  • Filaments
  • Models (Trains)
  • Oil Clay
  • UltraCal
  • Squirrel Cage Fans
Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage asked for Lucasfilm's blessing to make the Star Wars episode. Lucasfilm agreed, with some conditions. They could not animate blaster fire or light saber blades, and they could not portray characters doing anything that would violate the family-friendly nature of the series. In particular, they were told not to have any "twerking stormtroopers."
