Goofs

The USS Abraham Lincoln is located in the Philippine Sea. The three Talons and the EDI fly westwards, to Myanmar. It is daylight in the Philippine Sea but nighttime in Myanmar. Although it is conceivable that they were flying from dawn westwards to where it was still just before dawn, there were a lot of people and traffic on the street, which would have indicated that it was early evening in Myanmar. If you like popcorn-action and jets, go see this film.
31 July 2005 | by (DC, United States) – See all my reviews

All right, I really liked this movie and will probably see it again. But I am biased because I have a hobby in military aviation. I'd been dying to see this film and saw it early in the morning on the release date in my town. The movie had fighter jets, aircraft carriers, and Jessica Biel!...What more is there to want!?

But in all seriousness, it should have been clear from the trailer that this was going to be a summer popcorn action flick. I would say that it fulfilled that purpose quite well. It was entertaining. The actions scenes were great. There was some good humor. And the soundtrack was cool.

You shouldn't go into this film expecting to watch an "intellectual" picture. It definitely is not a mind-twister. However, it did bring up the interesting topic of using drones to fight wars and the moral implications of such at thing. That hasn't been brought up much in real life, so it was refreshing that the debate was at raised. But again, this isn't an intellectual film.

It was a fun action movie that all military aviation enthusiasts should see, trust me on this one. There are some other goodies you enthusiasts will find interesting as well.

All in all, for a fun summer flick it was good. My hopes were high for its relations to my interests, and I had lower artistic hopes. My hopes were surpassed, vis-a-vis my aviation interest, and the film did better artistically than I expected. I personally plan on seeing STEALTH(2005) again. However, if you are one that is super-critical about films and don't like leisurely summer popcorn action flicks, wait till it comes out on DVD...but if you're like me, don't wait. Go see it right now!
