Felissa Rose Talks Silent Night, Zombie Night!

1 December 2008 4:36 PM, PST | iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news »

Production is about to begin shortly on Silent Night, Zombie Night, the second feature from writer/director Sean Cain (Naked Beneath The Surface). A co-production of his Velvet Hammer Films and ArsonCuff Entertainment, the title pretty much gives you a good idea of the 2 horror sub-genres the flick plans on combining.

He explained the premise to Fangoria shortly after the film’s announcement. "The plot is a little like a love triangle between three friends," Cain told Fangoria. "Frank Talbot and Nash Jackson have been partners on the Lapd for many years—almost the same amount of time that Frank has been married to his wife, Sarah. However, on the day an undead plague breaks out, Frank takes an injured Nash back to the younger man's apartment and finds his wife there with a packed bag. Because of the zombies, they are trapped inside and having to deal with the »

I’m Bummed I RETURNed To Sleepaway Camp

18 November 2008 11:16 AM, PST | Fangoria | See recent Fangoria news »

I guess this entry is going to get kind of spoilerish, but sadly (not in a sarcastic way, this is actually really sad), Return To Sleepaway Camp isn’t much worth your time anyway, so eh, read on.

Sleepaway Camp is rad. It’s that simple. It’s a modern slasher classic that I had no hesitation in returning to. It’s a case of, “I’m not sure what I want to watch, I’ll just throw on Sleepaway Camp,” or “Oh my God! You’ve never seen Sleepaway Camp?? We’re watching it right now!” How many times have you met someone who’s never seen it and then just got so excited at the prospect of making them see it and staring at their face at the end? It just contains a lot of nostalgic fun, and as far as late nights and friends go, it’s a good flick to love. »

Multiple Personality Disorder Report: Our Afm '08 Megapost!

14 November 2008 11:21 AM, PST | QuietEarth.us | See recent QuietEarth news »

Afm is always my favorite time of the film reporting year. There's always so much information about cool genre movies flying at you from every direction that it's literally a full time job just keeping up with what's going on. It's for that reason that we here at Qe decided to hold off on a lot of our favorite news and make one big giant mega post with all the stuff that had us talking behind the scenes.

To avoid cluttering up the homepage I've decided to bury all the images and information after the break so click through and feast on the many goodies beyond.

I've chosen to start with Neuromancer not for the quality of the news but for how high the film currently ranks on my most anticipated. And not because I have any real fondness for Hayden Christensen or James Kahn, but just because it's been »

Return to Sleepaway Camp Movie Review

That bitch is scary!” but then I thought to myself, “Well, she scared me once, so the chances of her scaring me again are slim to none, since I’ll be expecting it.” Well, the second half of me was right. Instead of following the first film, Return [...] »

Review: Return To Sleepaway Camp DVD

29 October 2008 1:52 PM, PDT | Fangoria | See recent Fangoria news »

Within the first 10 minutes of Return To Sleepaway Camp, a character is introduced who is so gratuitous and ridiculous, and such a transparent ruse, that you can’t help but think, is writer/director Robert Hiltzik kidding? Is he intending to celebrate the 25th anniversary of his cult slasher flick with a sendup of his own creation?

Actually, as revealed in the extras on Magnet/Magnolia’s DVD, Return was produced 20 years after the original, and has taken an extra half-decade to make it to general release. Watching the movie, it’s not hard to see why. It would be nice to say that Return To Sleepaway Camp at least succeeds in delivering a gory/campy good time, but instead it’s an 86-minute endurance test that quickly wears out its welcome by taking forever to get to the murder spree that is its raison d’etre, in the meantime »

Review: Return To Sleepaway Camp

11 August 2008 1:08 PM, PDT | iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news »

An Icons of Fright Exclusive! The first review of the long-awaited "Return to Sleepaway Camp"!

Return to Sleepaway Camp

It's been 5 years since principal photography completed on “Return To Sleepaway Camp” and this reviewer has to wonder why it's taken so long to get the movie out. Especially when you consider that this is a sequel that finally lives up to the rude and nasty spirit of the original “Sleepaway Camp”. Forget the mid-80's sequels, “Return To Sleepaway Camp” is The movie us fans have been waiting for.

The sequels that hit video store shelves in '88 and '89, featuring Pamela Springsteen as Angela, were adequately goofy/gory spoofs of the cheapo slasher subgenre. They featured enough splatter and contrived continuity from the original to tide over fans for almost two decades. Still, “Sleepaway Camp” writer-director Robert Hiltzik had nothing to do with them. While they hold up as »

When campers and staff mysteriously begin disappearing and turning into gruesome corpses, paranoid Ronnie can't shake the memory of a series of grisly murders that took place at Camp Arawak where he worked 2 decades ago.
