If you find a rich attractive woman it may be time to settle down and get married already

Extremely light-footed romantic comedy - not without its charms. The plot is terribly unimaginative, though (the writer is also responsible for Norway's most awful soap series). Unless you're Norwegian there's nothing of interest here.

Norwegian wood....

God, this really was as terrible as it could get. Unimaginative is just the beginning. They use every possible cliché in this movie. Lots of well known norwegians here and that's probably the only positive thing about this movie. Cause this is what happens when Hollywood movies become accepted in Norway. The old norwegian "intellectual"/"artsy" movie times are dead...for the moment being. I was actually happy when this happened, cause we where all really beyond sick of that kind of film. But instead of trying to make something fairly original me and my two friends who had to sit through this 4 weddings and a funeral monster cliché ripper of a film. Really, I want norwegian film to be good. This film did get fairly good reviews in the media over here, how that happened is a mystery. I guess it must be because we are so happy to see that we CAN make Hollywood movies too. (?) Anyways..there are good norwegian Hollywood flicks around these days, this one is NOT one of them. But if you have never seen a movie before, then it might worth it.

Enjoyable!

This is an enjoyable movie, despite its unoriginal plot. Thomas Giertsen is great as the main character Jakob" and the beautiful Ane Dahl Torp shines as his beloved.

There are many funny scenes, and it keeps you laughing throughout. I give it a 7/10.

Yet another Hollywood flick in Norwegian..
Exiled_Archangel15 December 2004
I don't have much to add, I would have to pretty much agree with what has been said in the earlier comments. This movie is a Hollywood movie, just in Norwegian instead of English. OK an upper class Hollywood movie, but still has the typical unoriginality of Hollywood. The plot is 70% predictable, and the main characters are all so beautiful yet full of humanity. What else? Well, the actors are quite alright actually, so we need some more English language, and actors who can't act to make this a perfect Hollywood movie. Without those, it's watchable, but still nothing better than that.

Add Angelina Jolie and Robert De Niro (or worse actors, if you can find) and then even the language won't be able to make it Norwegian. The way it is, it's not a waste of time, but your odds of finding a better movie to watch are really strong. Especially if you've picked it just because it's not a Hollywood movie as I did, I can't say I recommend it too deeply.

A generous 7.5/10
