The whole film is intense through-out (hense, the thriller). A young girl believes that her imaginary friend is responsible for terrorizing her father (hense the psychological). The ending of the film is extremely shocking and some may find it disturbing: Robert De Niro's character, the father, IS Charlie. Once he displays his role of Charlie on screen. He continuously attacks people including his own daughter
