Gillian Anderson Would Be Thrilled to Play 'Jane Bond' When Daniel Craig Leaves Series

22 May 2016 11:38 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Today in potential dream-casting, Gillian Anderson's name has come up in a fan campaign to name the next James Bond. Daniel Craig is said to be done with the long-running spy franchise after starring in four films ("Casino Royale," "Quantum of Solace," "Skyfall" and "Spectre"), leading to an especially heightened level of speculation as to who might serve as his replacement. Idris Elba and Tom Hiddleston are among the actors whose names have come up most frequently in the search for a new 007, but the #NextBond hashtag yielded a surprising choice among fans: the former "X-Files" and "Hannibal" star." Daniel Craig, it’s okay if you let Bond go

Tony Black on Daniel Craig’s future as Bond…

We all knew this was coming. By we, I mean the legion of James Bond fans and aficionados who have followed the bizarre media whirlwind that seems to forever cascade around 007 himself, Daniel Craig. The Daily Fail (sorry, Mail!) apparently claimed Craig is done – that soon after the release of Spectre he turned down (say it like Dr Evil) 100 million dollars to return not just for Bond 25 but also Bond 26, claiming to Eon Productions and MGM bosses that his tenure was over. Everyone clamoured over this scant piece of pure rumour, to the point almost of hysteria, until the BBC later waded in and claimed what we all suspected all along – that Craig hasn’t made his mind up yet, and likely won’t for quite some time. Why should he? Bond 25 is a long way off, given the »

Daniel Craig Remains Undecided on James Bond Return

19 May 2016 4:52 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Though Spectre may not have been the massive critical and financial home run that Skyfall was, the fact of the matter is that the film was still very financially successful and Sony and MGM appear to really want Daniel Craig back for at least one more James Bond adventure. However, Craig appeared to be very worn out on the role during the press tour for Spectre, and there were a lot of indications he was totally done with the role. Today, a new report from BBC News gives fans hope that Craig may still come back for James Bond 25.

According to a report by the BBC, "authoritative Bond sources" have confirmed that Craig has not made a firm decision about his future with the franchise yet and that "no decision is likely to be made for a while." Though that means both the studio and fans may have to just be patient, »

Daniel Craig Refuses Big Offer to Return as James Bond?

19 May 2016 8:18 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Even before Spectre came out, there has been the persistent rumor that Daniel Craig is done with James Bond. Now that production on James Bond 25 is heating up, a new rumor claims that the actor is 100% done with the franchise for good, and that he's officially turned in his two week notice to studio bosses at MGM and Sony. This comes after the studio reportedly made Craig an offer that was very hard to turn down.

If we're to believe the Daily Mail, producers were eager to get Daniel Craig back in that iconic tuxedo to the tune of 68 million pounds. Which almost equates to $100 million in the states. This news arrives just days after bookmakers called off all 007 bets, with Thor star Tom Hiddleston reportedly securing the role. Thus far, Craig is the highest paid actor to have ever played the role, netting 38 million pounds for the first four movies, »

Daniel Craig Done With James Bond, Turns Down $99 Million

19 May 2016 6:24 AM, PDT | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

According to a report from The Daily Mail, actor Daniel Craig has officially let MGM know that he's done playing James Bond, turning down an offer of £68 million ($99 million Us) to return to the franchise for two more installments.  Aside from the $99 million, the deal also included endorsements and profit sharing as a producer.   Some estimates speculate that in reality, Craig is walking away from a figure closer to $175 million Us.   After four films as Bond, Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall and Spectre, where does Craig rank on your list of 007 actors? In related news, this reports suspiciously coincides with bookmakers around the world no longer accepting bets on whether Tom Hiddleston will succeed Craig as 007.  There were even sightings of Hiddleston meeting with Spectre director Sam Mendes and executive prodcer Barbara Broccoli.  Could an announcement be imminent?  »

The villains in films like Spectre and Captain America: Civil War are masters of misdirection. We look at a prevalent blockbuster trend.

Nb: The following contains spoilers for Batman V Superman, Captain America: Civil War, The Dark Knight Rises, Spectre, Iron Man 3, Zootropolis, Frozen and Watership Down. We may have made the last one up.

"I am the author of all your pain," Christoph Waltz's incarnation of Ernst Stavro Blofeld told Bond in last year's Spectre. It was a moment designed to bring all of Daniel Craig's previous Bond missions into one conspiracy: Casino Royale's Le Chiffre, Quantum Of Solace's Dominic Greene and Skyfall's Raoul Silva were all secret agents for Blofeld's global organisation.

The revelation placed Blofeld back at the top of the tree as the franchise's uber-villain and Bond's arch-nemesis. If the twist felt like a curious retro-fit at the time, »

Why Daniel Craig Should Play James Bond One More Time

11 May 2016 5:33 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

In 2006, Daniel Craig brought his version of James Bond to life for the first time with Casino Royale. Now, ten years later, Craig has turned in four performances as Bond. And though he reportedly has a film or two left on his contract, the future is very uncertain as to whether or not he will return for a fifth and presumably final turn as 007. In fact, many signs point to Spectre being the last film in the Daniel Craig Bond era, for better or for worse. But we think he should come back for at least one more adventure, and finish what he started.

During the press tour for Spectre last year, Craig made it very clear that he was less than interested in playing the character again. Speaking with Britain's Time Out, just after filming on Spectre wrapped, Craig had this to say in regards to whether or not »

Film Review: ‘In Your Dreams!’

9 May 2016 10:50 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Czech teen Laura (Barbora Stikarova) is a determined practitioner of parkour, the art of free-running around, over and up buildings, or other architecture. As “In Your Dreams!” is at pains to make clear from the outset, she’s unusual in that most of the discipline’s adherents are male — including local parkour hotshot Luky (Toman Rychtera), the object of a nascent crush on Laura’s part. But as Laura’s feelings for Luky intensify, her grip on reality fades, with a series of dreamlike visions seemingly starting to interact with reality. Following up on 2012’s “The Blue Tiger”, this warm sophomore directorial curiosity from veteran producer Petr Oukropec has its heart firmly in the right place, but its promising elements don’t finally coalesce into a film of much commercial potential, even in limited release.

Megan Fox would like to play Indiana Jones

9 May 2016 10:25 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Soon to be reprising her role as April O’Neill in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, Megan Fox has been talking about other roles she’d like to play.

A few years back, Fox was in the mix to play the role of Lara Croft in the reboot of Tomb Raider along with Kristen Stewart and Daisy Ridley. That role would go to Alicia Vikander as revealed last week, but Fox has her sights set on another famous adventurer. “I’ve always wanted to do Tomb Raider, but it’s been done – and very well,” She told Gamespot. “So I guess I’d go with Indiana Jones since I always loved how fun and free-spirited Indiana is.”

“He’s an adventurous rogue archaeologist who barely escapes death chasing down treasures among the earth’s most mysterious sites,” she added. “What’s not to love?”

Tony Black on Marvel’s continuity problem, and whether fans will accept a reboot…

What seems like a ton of new quotes and interviews with various major Marvel players have been floating around this week as Captain America: Civil War opens in the Us, and head honcho Kevin Feige has been particularly vocal. After admitting they may finally be taking a Black Widow movie seriously, which throws some interesting new light on my recent ponderings about her future, and talking the motivations concerning casting The Ancient One in Doctor Strange which has come under considerable flack (surely if you *can* cast Tilda Swinton, you cast Tilda Swinton?), his most intriguing comments came when discussing the longevity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe which throw up an interesting question – how exactly will they deal with the thorny issue of continuity down the road? Here’s what Feige said:
