Bad archeology.

Dr Zahi Hawass is a HUGE name in Egyptology today. Until recently, he's been the one in charge of Egypt's antiquities and if you pay attention, he's in practically every documentary you see on TV about ancient Egypt. However, I really, really lost a lot of respect for him when I watched this show. I know bad science when I see it. Here in "Nefertiti Revealed" I felt as if I'd been taken in by a patent medicine show! Again and again, the show was advertised ahead of time as having all-new and earth-shattering discoveries about the famed queen Nefertiti. Instead, however, I saw Hawass say things like 'might have been', 'could be' and the like as he talked about some mummy that COULD have been Nefertiti. And what support did he give for all this? Not much--just lots of supposition. I felt I truly had wasted my time and wondered if his motives had anything to do with advancing knowledge or just a chance to get himself on TV. After seeing him in several other shows since then, I have now learned to be a skeptic where his work is concerned.

I'd sure love to sit down and watch this again with an Egyptologist to see what they think...
