The colleagues of Gerard Gijsbrechts find his body in a hangar. The man got under an agricultural machine and had no chance to survive. The cable ties that are found next to the machine, let Tom Segers suspect that the man was murdered. His partner Dani doesn't want to expel an accident or suicide. And especially not when Kathleen Mees -the colleague who founds his body- tells that Gijsbrechts was always alone, and when they discover a box of Prozac pills in his apartment. The autopsy makes everything clear: Gijsbrechts was murdered. Before they finds any clues leading to the offender, a second man dies in exactly the same way. Officers Mike and Jimmy respond to a complaint about sound pollution and end up in a case about a marital dispute. At the office Dani gets the results of her commissioner exam and chief commissioner An Treunen gets a visit of the chief of police, Frederik Speltinckx.

Luc Geens is found dead in the storeroom of his do-it-yourself store. His forehead is pierced with a nail-pistol and next to his body a print of a sport-shoe gets found. Tom Segers is leading the investigation and his new police-partner Fien will feel it. The just graduated inspector doesn't get taken serious and gets not one single chance to prove herself. After a conversation with the victim's girlfriend, Tom is sure that Geens was killed by his son Bart. The boy had a fight with his father about money, and in his house they find the sport-shoe and a nail-pistol. Tom is sure it's only a matter of time before Bart makes a confession. When Fien suddenly brings in another suspect, Tom gets furious. From today on Dani leads the team of Zone Stad, but not everyone is happy with that. Officers Mike and Jimmy investigate a case of fake wristwatches.

While uniformed officer Mike is enjoying 'intimate services' in the harbor's prostitution quarter, he accidentally witness a brutal mugging. Trucker Marcel Liekens get beaten into hospital by a masked man and passerby Sven Raes who tries to save him is killed himself. Mike only reports it anonymously. Tom suspects both victims were attacked as closet-gays, based solely on a porn magazine, but desk work shows Liekens was in desperate debt since a disastrous traffic accident. The informer invites the cops, with freebies, to the opening of his strip bar. Forensic expert Luc Neefs, who discovers Tom's new partner is his former student, found traces of cocaine in his truck. Indeed the killer was acting under non-lethal orders of Liekens's boss in both legal trucking and illegal drugs trade, desperate to keep him silent, which means new crimes against him and his daughter, who is involved in prostitution, with her roommate.

In Antwerp's grand Central Station, a baby is found, abandoned in a cardboard box. The poor quality-security camera recording shows only the time of abandon. Elise Huybrechts (15) is reported missing, the mother was partying all the previous evening and night; the problem seems rooted at home. Jimmy considers his partner Mike, always late on the job, useless, yet starts a petition against his suspension (ordered by the police chief). The chief also wants the early retirement of widowed desk officer Ivo, who has trouble handling modern equipment. However, Ivo thinks of checking an outside camera, allowing to identify a Polish woman who brought the box in and left without it, but claims she handed it over anonymously. For help to get the drug squad off his back so he can open his bar, snitch Ludo brings the trail to an illegal adoption trail. Tom suspects Fien is intimate with Lucas.

Chassidic diamond trader Ariel Reuben is killed, shot in the head and chest. He was last seen by his assistant Benjamin Beer, who claims their Biblical faith keeps him calm, but he has no alibi. The chief declares that the case is top priority and insists Ivo must retire soon. He wants the case passed 'discretely' to the federal detectives - Tom gets a single day respite from his commissioner. Ariel's brother Simon, a cutter in the major firm of Kiril Simeon, asks for the widow's hand. Such 'Levitic' marriage is a traditional way to keep assets in the family. Lucas finds Reuben was shot with his own gun, but the second bullet ricocheted after his death into an internal wound. Tom illegally handcuffs and searches Beer, only to learn he's a federal undercover agent working on the illegal diamond trade under Wim Jacobs. Wim left the Antwerp PD after false charges. Tom catches Simon stealing diamonds from Ariel's safe. Ludo hands Tom another suspect's motive, but he's suspended. Meanwhile Jimmy and Mike investigate the disappearance of Helga, Stef's prize pigeon; he suspects the unsympathetic neighbors, his 'negelected' wife seduces Mike.

Whilst the precinct prepares a retirement party for Ivo, who never wanted to be pensioned off, the commissioner scolds Tom for his affair with Kathy, but her husband Lucas assures him that poses no professional problem. Attorney and gambler Maarten Timmermans (30) is found shot through the heart outside the Antwerp 'palace of justice' (grand courthouse). Only two hours later manager Geert Dehondt (29) is shot with the same gun on the steps of his Meir (shopping square) bank branch, after failing to recognize the killer, a bitter Antwerp law school year friend. Ivo is rewarded with permission to join the field investigation after finding both victims were partners in a law firm and made notary Michel Lafleur loose his divorce and visiting rights. During his interrogation only another hour later a third is shot, publican Bram who survives and studied law there too, albeit without graduating, as Ivo finds out, just like the shooter Bram remembers by nickname Pisser ('peewee') and first name Dieter, so college files lead the team to bachelor Janssens. Ivo sees a preciser link: a mixed frat, which hazed Dieter nastily and has another most interesting alumnus, now in acute danger, as people in the same place.

The very evening Antwerp prostitute Marishka breaks from her pimp, she's run over by a car and robbed. Autopsy shows she was killed by a prior knock on the head. Ivo, who died on field assignment for which the chief wants the commissioner severely sanctioned, gets a grand funeral. Snitch Ludo tells the alibi he was supposed to provide for Boris Joeratsjev, Marishka's Croat pimp and his bar's investor, is fake. Next Daisy, who told the police about Juracev's Eastern European 'girls supply', is beaten in hospital. At her accusation Tom arrests the pimp, who denies. While he's in jail, Marishka's home is burglarized, and again during the arrest of Antwerp contractor Van Reusel, one of the 'clients' she blackmailed. A list which includes attorney and new party president Guido De Laet, another of Fien's dad Jean-Yves's political friends and a former thesis mentor of her, whose wife Gabrielle found his love letters to the prostitute. Meanwhile Mike and Jimmy investigate a series of exploding garbage bags.

Tom's youth friend Mark Debruyn's father is found hanging in their family brewery, actually a fake suicide. As sir distrusted Mark's selfish wife too much to turn over his CEO post and a P.I. delivered proof of her infidelity recently, suspicion falls on her. Nevertheless, a stupid prank Tom and Mark pulled years ago proves tragically relevant after another murder.

Convict Dirk De Vulder, a rapist-murderer Tom arrested, escapes during treatment for knife-wounds in hospital, murdering both police guards. His cell-mate of six years, murderer Benny Stassyns, claims he was unpopular but feared beyond bullying as a former para-commando. Tom blames himself for not having killed Dirk instead of taking him prisoner. Two weeks earlier, notary Bruno Cassiman transferred 20,000 Euro to Stassyns' account for an anonymous client, allegedly from an inheritance. Shortly after shopkeeper Van Mulkebeek, next to De Vulders ex's laundry shop, is murdered. Then a video is delivered for Tom, showing -without faces- Dirk, Van Mulkebeek and probably two more accomplices rape-murdering the victim in Tom's original case, Katrien Maes. Putting pressure on Stassyns and tracing the money completes the names list, but it takes more crimes till all are rendered inoffensive.

A party-goer, about to dive into the river for a swim, accidentally notices three African corpses floating in the Schelde (river Escaut). They didn't drown but suffocated in a container, illegals on a ship from Ghana. Hesitant surviving refugee Kofi, a self-declared Kenyan tells Jimmy that more Ghanese will arrive that day. Jimmy's Ghanean girlfriend feels 'discriminated' even by him when her father's bar isn't spared the intimidating interviews. She convinces him to keep quiet about wounded Ghanean refugee Kwami they know, who the next day turns up shot through the head. Lucas and his wife separately go all the way in their affairs. Despite his mother being hospitalized with heart trouble, Tom sees through the Ghanean lies.

Lucas Neefs mobilizes the team urgently, having found after a night in bed with Fien that his young sons, one of which saw them, are missing. They went to former nanny Jadwiga's home, but she's found beaten to death there, besides a boy's cuddly toy. The team deduces an ex-con suspects shortlist, but Lucas initially keeps silent which one he recognizes and fails in a solo-rescue attempt. Yet fiend Tony Cuypers now demands a ransom, leading to a failed handover and a wild chase.

Lascivious rock musician Jeff Nash went missing during his stay in an Antwerp luxury hotel. As a favor to the owner, the chief, as society friend, and acting commissioner Wim Jacobs arrange a discrete undercover investigation. Tom, whose ma discharged herself from hospital hoping he'll take her in, must play the bellhop, thus winning barman Robbie confidence. Fien plays a rich guest, flirting with Dutch big spender Marco Mulder. They thus attend the illegal poker nights for big stakes in a lounge closed for renovation, with a rich couple allegedly practicing 'open marriage', yet not immune to jealousy. Gambling debts provide another plausible motive.

Handsome port policeman Robbe Meulemans's wife Mich Nelis is murdered and her corps dropped in the river after she left a yacht-club champagne party on notary Willem Sanders's yacht. Shortly after, the notary is murdered too. Robbe is shattered when the investigation reveals his wife's infidelity, yet his suicide by slitting his wrists in bath turns out staged again. Inheritance and family secrets prove crucial. Guy's attempted mutiny against Wim being instated as commissioner proves in vain.
