Throughout the city, there are billboards advertising a True Crime movie coming out in the fall of 2005. What's actually coming out at that time is True Crime: New York City (2005).

Advertisements for the fictitious company "Jockstrap" can be found on billboards all throughout the game, escpecially in the Hollywood area. The "Jockstrap" logo and name parody that of game designers Rockstar, who are most famous for the "Grand Theft Auto" series - from which "True Crime" draws much of its inspiration...(see also Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (2004))
