The final chapter of Bilbo Baggins' "Hobbit" adventure is airing August 8 on HBO as part of its Saturday Night Movies. It'll be on HBO Now, the network's standalone streaming service, on the same day. So if you don't already have HBO as part of your cable package but want to watch the TV shows ("Game of Thrones," "True Detective," etc.) and movies, you can just order HBO Now to stream the content.

New on Netflix: August 2015

New on Netflix in August: The original series "Narcos," about Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar, starring Wagner Moura of "Elysium;" and the site's first Spanish-language original series, "Club de Cuervos," about a brother and sister who inherit a soccer team.

You'll also be able to stream the critically acclaimed film "White Dog," Best Picture Oscar winner "The Hurt Locker," the Kristin Wiig dramedy "Welcome to Me," and Simon Pegg as an assassin in "Kill Me Three Times."

There are also new episodes of "Doctor Who," "Revenge," "Once Upon a Time," "Transporter: The Series," and "GIrl Meets World." Happy binging!

‘Sherlock’s’ Moriarty, Andrew Scott, Joins Cast of ‘Swallows and Amazons’ (Exclusive)

London — Andrew Scott, who is Jim Moriarty in “Sherlock” and is soon to be seen as Denbigh in James Bond movie “Spectre,” has joined the cast of Philippa Lowthorpe’s feature film adaptation of Arthur Ransome’s adventure story “Swallows and Amazons.” Scott, whose other movie credits include “Pride,” will play a secret agent — by the name of Lazlow — in pursuit of the reclusive and enigmatic Jim Turner (Rafe Spall), inspired by Ransome’s own life as a spy.

In the novel “Swallows and Amazons,” Ransome based the character of Turner on himself as a novelist. The filmmakers behind this new adaptation have been inspired by Ransome’s secret life as an agent for the British intelligence service MI6, and based Turner on Ransome the spy. The truth about Ransome’s role as a secret agent, whose code name was S.76, was revealed 10 years ago when the British government released »

Gwendoline Christie, Harry Enfield join 'Swallows and Amazons'

Principal photography underway in the UK on book adaptation.

Cast and crew have set sail for the big-screen adaptation of the film update of Arthur Ransome classic Swallows and Amazons.

Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones), Jessica Hynes (Shaun of the Dead) and Harry Enfield (Kevin and Perry Go Large) have joined Rafe Spall and Kelly Macdonald in Philippa Lowthorpe’s (Call the Midwife) feature debut, adapted by Andrea Gibb (Dear Frankie).

The Walker and Blackett children will be played by Dane Hughes, Orla Hill, Teddie-Rose Malleson-Allen, Bobby McCulloch, Seren Hawkes and Hannah Jayne Thorp.

Principal photography got underway in the Lake District on June 21.

Exclusive: Iconic UK book series sails to production with Rafe Spall, Kelly Macdonald in lead roles.

StudioCanal has snapped up UK rights to the upcoming feature version of UK classic book series Swallows and Amazons from HanWay Films, which has launched world sales at Cannes.

Boardwalk Empire star Kelly Macdonald has newly joined the Harbour Pictures’ (Calendar Girls) production alongside Rafe Spall (Get Santa) who will lead the cast as the enigmatic Captain Flint.

Philippa Lowthorpe (Jamaica Inn) will direct from a screenplay by Andrea Gibb (Dear Frankie). 

Production on the film version will begin in the Lake District this summer. BBC Films and the BFI developed the project and are on-board for production finance.
