Dariya Dil review :
Kader Khan, in a double role, stole the show in this family drama directed by Vimal Kumar. Govinda played his younger son with Kimi Katkar as his love interest. A song featuring them in Superman Spider(wo)man costumes became an internet meme in recent times.
The plot centered around a wealthy businessman Kader Khan who is not happy with his good for nothing sons Raj Kiran and Shashi Puri. Shakti Kapoor plays the villain and gets Kader Khan bumped off to usurp his business.
Kader Khans dialogues were the films highlight and his double role was much appreciated by the audience. Note the way he shames his sons Raj and Shashi by showing his own mazdoor father's belongings stored in a room which these guys take to be hidden treasure.
Encouraged by the films success, Vimal Kumar repeated Kader Khan - Govinda jodi and made two more family dramas with them - Jaisi Karni Waisi Bharni (1989) and Karz Chukana Hai (1991).
I owned a VHS of Dariya Dil and have seen it multiple times in my childhood. A fairly entertaining family drama!
