Imogen Thomas has revealed that Tina Malone supported her through the Ryan Giggs scandal. The Big Brother star said the Shameless actress became a "mother figure" and prevented her from turning to alcohol after receiving death threats. "Tina's been a mother figure for me," Thomas told the Daily Star. "She's got strong opinions, which I value, and I feel like she has really helped me land back on my feet." The pair met while filming a celebrity version of Come Dine With Me. "Lovely girls like Imogen fall for footballers (more) »

The cast of Showtime’s drama series Shameless is getting into the holiday spirit while staying true to the irreverent spirit of the show. The actors have recorded a non-pc Christmas carol, with music and lyrics by star William H. Macy, who also plays the ukulele. The song showcases the music talents of co-star Emmy Rossum, a trained opera singer. The clip was created to promote the upcoming Season 2 of Shameless, which premieres on January 8. »

McAvoy landed his big break with his role in the U.K. drama and started a real-life relationship with his character Steve McBride's love interest, played by actress Anne-Marie Duff, who is now his wife.
The show has since been rebooted for U.S. audiences but McAvoy admits it is too "strange" for him to watch Canadian actor Justin Chatwin in his place.
He says, "My wife and I must have watched about 10 minutes of the very first episode and it was kinda freaky, so we decided not to watch anymore.
"It was too strange watching people do lines that we ad-libbed that weren't even in the script. It was just stuff that we would improvise. When my character, Steve, dropped his pants, bared his a*s and slapped his bum in the face of a bouncer, that wasn't in the script. I did that on the night. And yet, there it is in this new series. It's really, really strange. It was the same director, as well." »
In the animated family film Arthur Christmas, hitting theaters on November 23rd, actor James McAvoy voices Arthur, the awkward but enthusiastic youngest son to Santa Claus (Jim Broadbent). When the ultra-high-tech Christmas gift delivery system fails, missing one child out of hundreds of millions, Arthur embarks on a rogue mission, with the help of his rather naughty Grandsanta (Bill Nighy) and a giftwrapping-obsessed elf (Ashley Jensen), to deliver the last present before Christmas morning. During this exclusive phone interview with Collider, James McAvoy talked about his desire to want to do more films for kids because they’re the best audience around, that he responded to the integrity and humor in the story, the challenge of voicing a character that is always so enthusiastic and nice, and that, if given the choice, he would likely go with the simple and classic ways of doing things versus the high-tech ones. He »

The series, based on Martin Kihn’s hit tell-all book How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Tell You the Time, revolves around dueling corporate management consulting firms. The cast also includes Ben Schwartz, Josh Lawson, Dawn Olivieri and Glynn Turman.
My snappy judgement: Jaws is a little too close to Kb for my comfort. Thoughts?

"Hello, my darlings." The first television words I ever remember. Spoken by the pint-sized comic Charlie Drake. It could easily have been Captain Mainwaring's "stupid boy", courtesy of the immortal Arthur Lowe or something from Hylda Baker. And let's not forget that other Hilda, Coronation Street's Hilda Ogden – my nomination for the funniest performance on British television for 50 years.
Catchphrases and comics lit up my childhood and now the BBC is searching for the next generation of comedy artists. And the north is a great place to start looking. When we think of great, iconic comedic talent, a whole host of northern names immediately spring to mind. From classic entertainers such as Morecambe and Wise, Les Dawson, Russ Abbott and Cannon and Ball »

Question: Is Glee going the Shelby/Puck route? Suspicions were elevated when Fox released that “Pot o’ Gold” promo. —Lulu
Ausiello: I’ll say this: At the end of the next original episode on Nov. 1, there is a very bold interaction between the two. Very bold.
Question: I was wondering if you can give any insight into what is going to be happening with Mercedes on Glee now that she’s the only person not in New Directions? »

Premium cable channel Showtime’s critically acclaimed television comedy-drama series Shameless: The Complete First Season has some seriously respectable lineage—it’s executive produced by John Wells, who’s projects include such TV smashes as ER and The West Wing.
Shameless stars William H. Macy (The Lincoln Lawyer) as the South side of Chicago’s Frank Gallagher, a proud, working-class patriarch to a motley brood of six smart, spirited and independent kids who, in all honesty, would probably be better off without him. In Frank’s booze-addled view, parenting just eats into his hard-earned, bar-crawling and carousing time — so he leaves it up to eldest daughter Fiona (Emmy Rossum, The Phantom of the Opera) to hold down the fort. »
The 2nd annual PollyGrind assaults Las Vegas during an epic length film festival that runs Oct. 8-17 at Theatre 7 with enough sleaze and violence to make Sin City residents feel right at home.
Actually, the fest does open up on the 7th with a concert at Neon Venus with local acts like Monster Zero, Creepersin and many more.
However, the film portion of the fest opens on the 8th with Stuart Simpson‘s acclaimed Australian gorefest El Monstro Del Mar!, one of the best Russ Meyer/Roger Corman mash-ups with a Down Under twist. Read the Bad Lit: The Journal of Underground Film review of this gem here.
Other Bad Lit favorites in the lineup are Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson‘s The Taint, which is still completely grossing out audiences on the festival circuit, and The Uh-Oh Show, the splatter-filled horror comedy by the Godfather of Gore himself Herschell Gordon Lewis. »

As the star of two of the most successful film franchises of the ‘80s, Harrison Ford was the obvious choice to take on the role of Jack Ryan for director Phillip Noyce’s Patriot Games, released on Blu-ray last week. Following on from Alec Baldwin’s portrayal of the character in The Hunt For Red October, where Ryan was very much a supporting role to Sean Connery’s Russian submarine captain, producers required a more bankable star to fill Ryan’s boots for a story focussing more on Ryan and his family as he takes on a terrorist splinter group.
Based on Tom Clancy’s international best-seller, Patriot Games follows former CIA analyst Jack Ryan as he travels to London for a vacation with his wife (Anne Archer, Fatal Attraction) and child (Thora Birch, American Beauty). Meeting his family outside Buckingham Palace, Ryan is caught in the middle of a »

Title: What’s Your Number? Director: Mark Mylod (TV’s ‘Entourage,’ ‘Shameless’) Starring Anna Faris, Chris Evans and Blythe Danner (‘Little Fockers’) Sometimes people have to go through multiple choices to find the best fit for them. Much like her character Ally Darling in the new romantic comedy ‘What’s Your Number?,’ Anna Faris broke society expectation to do what was right for her. While Ally dated the wrong men just to find someone society would approve of, the actress continuously took on ditzy characters that the public has come to recognize her for playing. But both Ally and Faris both finally stood up for themselves and went after what made them happy. »

Channel 4 drama's 100th episode picks up 1.3 million viewers, neck and neck with Channel 5 reality show
Paul Abbott returned to the show he created to write the landmark episode, which drew a 9% share of the audience between 10pm and 11.45pm on Tuesday.
Its audience rose to 1.42 million when Channel 4 +1 is taken into account.
Big Brother drew 1.36 million viewers, a 7.9% share, between 10pm and 11pm on Channel 5.
Shameless began on Channel 4 on 13 January 2004 – a "seven-part drama" we said at the time – with 2.3 million viewers. It launched on the same night as Nip/Tuck on Sky1. Here's what the critics said about Shameless back then.

Gok's Clothes Roadshow: Get The Look For Less
8pm, Channel 4
Evidently we're never going to shake the after-effects of this latest recession, so in his new series, Gok Wan – armed with a pop-up catwalk – goes in search of the cheapest on-trend outfits, some for as little as £50. He also plans to analyse which brands offer the best value for money, though we do hope he's checking the provenance of some of that cheaply stitched clobber. Candice Carty-Williams
This series sets out to profile five different regiments of the British army, illuminating their diverse histories and often quirky cultures. Tonight's episode focuses on the famous Parachute Regiment, whose history begins in 1940, when Winston Churchill demanded the formation of an elite airborne infantry corps for service in Europe. »
