Brazil’s Globosat Acquires Canal Plus’ ‘Spotless’ From Studiocanal

Recently airing on NBC Universal’s Esquire Network, the Studiocanal-sold crime dramedy “Spotless,” a Canal Plus original series produced by Tandem Productions, has been licensed to Brazilian TV giant Globo’s pay TV service Globosat, the biggest cable-satellite operator in the country.

Spotless” is Tandem’s first production for Canal Plus after it was purchased in January 2012, by Studiocanal, owned in turn by Vivendi’s Canal Plus Group – an early example of synergies within Vivendi companies. “Spotless” also marks a new step in Canal Plus’ international production of original content, as Fabrice de la Patelliere, director of French drama and co-productions at Canal Plus, said when “Spotless” was announced at 2014’s Mip TV in April 2014.

With Vivendi looking to broaden dramatically its talent base and boost a show’s lure far outside its native France, that international drive is instanced by cast – star Marc-Andre Grondin (“C.R.A.Z.Y. »

Amazon Prime to Kill Off ‘Ripper Street’ After Fifth Season

7 March 2016 4:40 AM, PST | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

London — The fifth season of crime drama “Ripper Street” will be its last, Amazon Prime has revealed.

Amazon stepped in to save “Ripper Street” in early 2014, following outcry from fans when the show was cancelled by the BBC after two seasons. The original Tiger Aspect production team was commissioned by Amazon to create season three, which launched exclusively for Prime members in the U.K. in November 2014.

At the same time, seasons one and two were made available for unlimited streaming for Prime members. When season three launched on Prime Video, it was streamed more than any other TV show on the service and was the most popular British drama amongst customers.

In the final season, writer Richard Warlow shows how, as the Victorian age comes to a close, the police officers of H Division attempt to maintain law and order on the streets of Whitechapel. Joseph Mawle (“In the Heart of the Sea »

More singletons take their chances in a show that balances fun and sweetness; Domhnall Gleeson explores the delights of Svalbard, and superpowered Harry Clayton faces kidnapping and conspiracy. Plus: intelligent sci-fi in District 9

Skint celebs have long been a very British source of fascination, allowing for copious head-shaking, and giving gossip mags an excuse to dole out advice about hiding your credit cards in the freezer. Fittingly, the budget for this countdown of famous debtors didn’t quite stretch to 50 Cent, so instead we’ve got the likes of Abz from Five and Tina Malone from Shameless discussing their money troubles. Expect mention of Michael Barrymore, Kerry Katona and former members of Blue. Hannah J Davies

If you got a dozen top lads from Matlock and I rounded up a dozen “faces” from Darley Dale, who’d win the resultant “off”?
