Trivia:
Contrary to popular belief, there IS a manga of Dragon Ball GT. However, it came AFTER the anime and was not created by Akira Toriyama, therefore making it unofficial to the official Toriyama-verse. moreQuotes:

Dragon Ball GT should have NEVER been made, seriously. It basically just ripped off stuff that had come from the first two DB series.
With only minimal involvement from series/franchise creator Akira Toryama (forgive any misspellings), the plot is uninspired and actually contradicts itself on more than one occasion. Also, as the series progresses, the secondary characters get diminished further and further to the point where they are nothing more than background characters.
However, it can also be seen as an example of Funimation at its best. Sure the original Japanese version was terrible. Heck, I bet that the good folks at Funimation knew that it was that bad. So, they did the near impossible. With control ONLY over spoken lines and music they took a bad, meandering cartoon and turned it into a decent, watchable (albeit still meandering) cartoon.
You see, normally I absolutely loathe it when Funimation makes these kinds of changes to the original. However, when the original is as HORRID as this, well, such changes are a virtue. True, I think we all could have done without the lame Grand Tour Rap, but other than that I think it's enjoyable.
My one-star rating goes to the Japanese version. The dub would probably get 6 or 7 stars. I know, it feels absolutely weird dissing the Japanese version and praising the English version, but that's the case with this particular (not to mention regrettable) piece of the Dragonball franchise.
