Storyline

Vietnam veteran Billy Ray Lancing, a former CSA agent who now works on a wildlife refuge in Northern Alaska, has been exchanging letters in a pen-pal relationship with Irina Morawska, a 13-year-old orphaned girl in Poland that he's helping out financially. When the letters suddenly stop coming, Billy heads to Poland to figure out why -- only to discover that the orphanage that Irena was staying in, which is financed by honest -- and unsuspecting -- good-intentioned Samaritans, is a cover for a human trafficking network. Run by a man named Faisal, the operation is worth billions -- girls are sold and traded to the highest bidders from all over the world. Through Billy's letters to Irina, Billy has taught Irina how to use secret codes, which she uses to keep Billy updated on where Faisal is taking her to. That's how Billy stays on Faisal's trail as Billy teams up with local cop Kasia Lato to rescue Irina and the other girls, and bring down Faisal's human trafficking network. Written by Todd Baldridge

Trivia

For large portions of the movie, Seagal was dubbed over by a voice over artist. So at certain times during the movie he speaks with his own voice, but then at other times with a dubbed voice which can be detected very easily as being dubbed. The reasoning for the dubbing of Seagal and other actors in the film was that changes were made in the storyline after most of the film was already shot. See more »

Apropos title

Wow. There's a reason Steven Seagal films are just straight-to-video fare now. This was another one that was at a friend's house so I borrowed and watched it when I had a chance and boy-oh-boy, was it bad.

In this film, unlike other Seagal films, he plays a retired CIA agent with a pony tail who always wears one of those long overcoats in a movie with a three word title. Oh wait. That IS every Seagal movie.

Except now it's painfully obvious he doesn't care. He looks like the Michelen Man, his acting skills have not only gotten worse over time, but he didn't even bother to dub his own voice. They got someone else to do most of the dubbing and voice over who sounds absolutely nothing like Seagal, which totally threw me off for a while. I couldn't figure out why the girl was reading the letter sent to her by Seagal's character with someone else doing the voice over until I realized it was just another guy who dubs Seagal's voice in some parts of the movie.

The funniest thing off all, is the "coded message" the girl leaves in the sushi, which was nothing but sushi lined up with a piece of onion between every three pieces, but somehow Seagal's character was able to decipher an actual message from it. We did laugh out loud at that one. And watching the chubby Seagal do those fight scenes: close ups of a hand movie, a guy following and Seagal standing over him, pretty funny too. The fact this guy is still allowed to be in movies is amazing.
