Lohan's "Victim" Has Bar Bill as Evidence of Intoxication

30 November 2007 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

The victim of Lindsay Lohan's 2005 Hollywood car crash has retrieved the actress' bar bill to prove she was under the influence when the accident occurred. Lohan is being sued by Raymundo Ortega for crashing her Mercedes-Benz into his red van in Los Angeles, after allegedly drinking at celebrity hotspot The Ivy. The Mean Girls star has refuted claims she had consumed alcohol during her lunch date with pals and says the police report of the incident will prove her innocence against Ortega's allegations. But Ortega has now gotten hold of the actress' restaurant bill, which shows the party of five ordered four Ivy Gimlets - a strong vodka and mint cocktail, reports And he hopes the new evidence will be enough for a judge to rule in his favor over the negligence lawsuit - although there is no way of knowing if Lohan, then 19, drank the cocktail. Lohan - who was recently ordered to give a videotaped deposition in relation to the lawsuit - has filed a countersuit to fight the claims, and is seeking damages of $75,000 from Ortega. A trial date of April 7 has been set for both cases. »

Waters rolls lucky 'Seven'

21 November 2007 | The Hollywood Reporter | See recent The Hollywood Reporter news »

NEW YORK -- Mean Girls helmer Mark Waters is attached to direct Joshua Ferris' comedy-drama Seven Days for Universal Pictures.

Watermark Pictures' Jessica Tuchinsky and Waters will produce the feature.

The script chronicles seven pivotal days in a man's life during the course of 20 years, with each segment of the film beginning as he wakes up that day.

Ferris, a National Book Award finalist for his novel Then We Came to the End, signed his contract before the recent WGA strike. "I can't remember large periods of my life that well, but certain days stick in my mind, for good reasons and bad," he said, noting the origin of the Seven plot. "At the end, hopefully it will be a portrait of a life as it's lived."

Tuchinsky and Ferris first discussed the idea a year ago and developed it for six months, eventually bringing it to Universal exec Peter Cramer to develop at the studio. Ferris is waiting for the end of the strike to resume work on the script and hasn't yet finalized which days of the lead character's life will appear in the final version. »

Lohan Refused a Drink at Los Angeles Hotspot

1 November 2007 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Lindsay Lohan's aides are going out of their way to make sure the actress/singer stays sober after spending much of the summer in rehab - they've told staff at all her old hangouts not to let her drink alcohol. The Mean Girls star found this out for herself when she tried to order vodka at Los Angeles' Viceroy hotel on October 19. A staff member at the hotel reveals Lohan spent an hour sipping water, but felt the need for something stronger as her friends started to get tipsy. A source tells Life & Style magazine, "She was fine at first, but it was obviously too soon for her to be around people who were drinking, because she later asked the server for a vodka. But her people had called ahead and servers were told not to give in no matter how often Lindsay asked for alcohol." Despite denials about the incident from Lohan's publicist, a guest at the Viceroy, who overheard the exchange between the actress and a waitress, tells the publication, "I heard the waitress say that she was sorry but she wasn't allowed to serve her. Lindsay walked out soon after, looking embarrassed." »

Lohan Speaks Out From Rehab

10 October 2007 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Lindsay Lohan has given her first frank in-depth interview from rehab and insists she's planning to turn her troubled life around, give up partying and plan a charity mission to Africa. The Mean Girls star, who has been a patient at the Cirque Lodge rehab facility in Utah since August following two drunk-driving charges earlier this year, has opened up to America's In Touch Weekly magazine. Still completing her stay there, Lohan insists her "self destructive" ways are behind her: "Partying and having all of those pictures taken distracts from the work that I do. It's not why I started acting. I didn't get into acting to be written about. It kind of just happened - so I accept that it's my life. But there are some things that I can do to make changes and grow up. I want to act like a woman rather than a teenager. I am doing the best I can." And she admits rehab has been a "humbling" experience - once she learned how to take orders from others: "It was hard surrendering and having people tell me what to do. It was really humbling for me, but I liked how I was treated as a normal person. I kept the common areas clean. I liked making coffee for the gym the best." Lohan is now hoping to return to filming before jetting off to Africa, adding, "I'm planning a trip to Africa during the second week in December. I'm working with the American Red Cross, but it is not finalized yet." Lohan also used the In Touch article to apologize to fans for letting them down. She concludes, "I just want to apologize to any of my fans that look up to me, especially my younger fans, for setting the examples that I didn't mean to set. That is one of the reasons that I want to change things. I don't want to be known as that person. I have a younger sister and she looks up to me, too. All the negative stuff that gets said hurts my feelings, it hurts my sister, Ali, and my family." »

Dina Lohan Sued for Fraud

3 August 2007 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Lindsay Lohan's mother Dina Lohan is set for another court date after being accused of fraud for failing to pay back a $400,000 loan to a friend. Las Vegas businessman Antonio Almeida filed a lawsuit in May 2006, claiming Dina failed to return the money he lent her four years ago to kick-start daughter Lindsay's music career. Almeida's lawyer, A. Raymond Hamrick, says some of the money was used to record songs with Gloria Estefan's husband, Emilio Estefan. But the Mean Girls actress parted company with Estefan after securing a deal with Casablanca Records, which released her album, A Little More Personal (Raw). Hamrick tells New York Gossip column, PageSix, "My clients were out their money." But Dina's lawyer, David Chesnoff says, "You mean the funds he claimed he lent her?" Dina is currently fighting estranged husband Michael in court for custody of their two youngest children Aliana and Cody (Dakota). »

Lohan's Legal Woes Get Even Worse

30 July 2007 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

The man whose foot Lindsay Lohan drove over as she left a party in pursuit of a former assistant is threatening to sue the actress. Ronnie Blake was one of three partygoers who was inside a white GMC SUV when the intoxicated Mean Girls star allegedly commandeered the vehicle to chase Tarin Grahame through the streets of Malibu, California last Monday night. But Blake managed to get out of the vehicle just before Lohan sped off, with his two pals, Dante Nigro and Jakon Sutter fearing for their lives inside. The three men have now hired attorney Randall Billington to represent them as they consider legal action against Lohan. If the action goes ahead, Blake will be seeking damages for his injuries, while Nigro and Sutter are considering pressing false imprisonment and stolen vehicle charges. Billington insists the trio should not be seen as opportunists looking to get rich quick from a celebrity. He says, "It was a surprise to them that the vehicle was taken without their permission. They were unable to remove themselves from the vehicle while it was traveling... They never expected to be in a car with her (Lohan)." After speeding the GMC around the streets of Malibu, Lohan allegedly went to Grahame's home in Santa Monica, where she began a second chase with her former assistant's mother, facialist to the stars Michelle Peck. Peck called police to report the facts she was being chased and the authorities arrested Lohan in a car park a block away from a police station in Santa Monica. »

Lohan "Likes" Rehab

Lindsay Lohan is enjoying her return to rehab because she is out of the public eye, according to a friend. The Mean Girls actress checked herself into the Promises rehab facility in Malibu, California on Monday - after she was arrested for driving under the influence at the weekend. It is the second stint in rehab for Lohan, who completed a 30-day program at Wonderland in Los Angeles earlier this year - but pal Nate Newell says she is coping well. Newell tells, "She's happy where she is and is just taking time to herself to learn and be okay. I've been in touch with her and she likes it. Wonderland is an outpatient service so she was back and forth from the (I Know Who Killed Me) set, but this time she'll totally be there (at inpatient center Promises). She just needs to be away from everyone and not get attacked by the paparazzi. She's doing really, really well. She probably should be there and it will be the best for her. I think now she's ready for it." »

Lindsay Lohan's lawyer has blasted her so-called friends who he fears sold images of the actress/singer allegedly snorting cocaine in a bathroom to a British newspaper. News of The World printed the photos of what looked like Lohan snorting cocaine with friends in a Los Angeles club bathroom in its Sunday editions, and the Mean Girls star is said to be "inconsolable" about the latest scandal. Ironically, Lohan has befriended British model Kate Moss, who was caught up in a similar controversy in 2005 - and now she fears she'll be condemned for appearing to be taking drugs just 20 days after she completed a rehab spell in Los Angeles. A pal tells Life & Style magazine that the 20-year-old was "crying hysterically," adding, "She's convinced that everyone is out to get her." And now her attorney, Mike Heller, has weighed in to the scandal to reprimand friends who he feels must have sold the images to the News of The World. Heller refuses to confirm the shots show Lohan snorting cocaine, stating, "This just goes to show how hard it is to be Lindsay Lohan, who's even denied her privacy in the sacred confines of a ladies'-room stall and then must fend off the slings and arrows of false allegation." »
