Great Job, Internet!: The Revenant is far less gruesome in 8-bit form

23 August 2016 1:00 PM, PDT | avclub.com | See recent The AV Club news »

Given that The Revenant is a grueling, nearly three-hour-long survival story with highlights that include Leonardo DiCaprio being mauled by a bear, you’d be forgiven for skipping a visit to the multiplex to see it. Thankfully, however, CineFix has now retold the story in just about two minutes using simple 8-bit animation. The video hits all of the movie’s big plot points, while excluding the gruesome shots of a man cauterizing his own neck wound with gun powder in order to drink water.

The Revenant video is part of CineFix’ 8-Bit Cinema series, which has previously tackled everything from Se7en to Kill Bill to Mean Girls. While humor is the series’ modus operandi, its 8-bit retellings also double as remarkably efficient plot summaries for those iconic films you just can’t quite bring yourself to watch for whatever reason.

Nsfw Trailer For Bad Santa 2 Rings In The Festive Season Early

9 August 2016 2:12 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Billy Bob Thornton’s foul-mouthed narcissist is back and nastier than ever in the decidedly Nsfw trailer for Bad Santa 2.

Yes, he may be the foulest, most hateful Father Christmas to ever don the fluffy red suit, but in reprising a role for the first time in close to 13 years, Thornton revealed recently that he’s aiming to inject more heart into the festive sequel, while still maintaining the crude streak that ensured the 2003 original went down as a cult hit.

“I think we pushed it even a little further this time, not only in the sort of dark humor but also in the emotion. This one has more of a heart, more of a story you would say, but it also went a little further with some of the nasty stuff. We try to keep up with the times.”

That role is, of course, Willie Soke, a borderline »

Billy Bob Thornton Is More Foul-Mouthed Than Ever in Nsfw ‘Bad Santa 2’ Trailer

9 August 2016 1:35 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Billy Bob Thornton returns to his rotten roots as the titular bad Santa Claus Willie Soke in the very Nsfw red band trailer for “Bad Santa 2.”

“Why are you even out of the joint anyway?” he asks Tony Cox’s Marcus, who calls him racist in response, throwing in two expletives. Cox explains that he has a master plan that will yield millions of dollars.

Thurman, played by Brett Kelly, also returns from “Bad Santa,” asking in the trailer “Are you still going to pop my cherry?”

There’s a children mumbling incoherent gift requests to Thornton, who responds, “You could be speaking f—ing Swahili and I wouldn’t know any better.”

Near the end of the trailer, Soke greets his mother — played by Kathy Bates — with a punch to the jaw, prompting the sarcastic response, “You still hit like your f—ing father.”

Bad Santa 2 Red Band Trailer Arrives

9 August 2016 12:08 PM, PDT | Cinelinx | See recent Cinelinx news »

Bad Santa 2 is on its way and we have our first trailer full trailer to show for it.  Careful though, it's red band only, so maybe wait until you're at home to watch it.

13 years ago Billy Bob Thornton introduced us to Willie Soke. An abusive, vulgar, alcoholic thief who covered his heist under the guise of a mall Santa. Now in 2016 we are finally ready to return the world of the Bad Santa with a trailer that is definitely Nsfw. Check it out here.

Can't watch because you are at work? Don't worry, the green band was dropped as well!

As you can see they don't seem to be skimping us on the raunchy nature the first one was full of. The fear of coarse, in my opinion, is that the trailer is a little short on laughs. Which does not scream trouble, you don't want the best »

Watch the First Red Band Trailer For Bad Santa 2

9 August 2016 11:49 AM, PDT | www.themoviebit.com | See recent TheMovieBit news »

With Mean GirlsMark Waters at the helm, Billy Bob Thornton returns as Willie T. Soke in Bad Santa 2 with a plan to knock off a Chicago charity on Christmas Eve. The first Nsfw trailer is here and 13 years on, the premise is as filthy and foul mouthed as ever. Complete with Kathy Bates as Willie’s equally sweary mother, who has this teaser’s best line. It remains to be seen if it turns out to have a strong emotional core like the original. If this sequel can do what other recent, decades late comedies couldn’t and actually do justice to what came before, we’ll find out soon enough, but this first look is pretty promising. Released: 23rd November (U.S.)/ 25th November (Irl/U.K.) »

A Foul-Mouthed Billy Bob Thornton is Back in Red Band Trailer For ‘Bad Santa 2’

9 August 2016 9:44 AM, PDT | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

After 13 years, there was only one man who we need to save 2016: Billy Bob Thornton‘s Bad Santa. That’s how I imagine the pitch went for the revival of the foul-mouthed, bad behavior Santa Claus who, of course, does have a little heart. So comes the first trailer for Bad Santa 2, with Thornton’s Willie and his fed-up sidekick Marcus (Tony Cox) hatching a plan to knock off a Chicago charity event during that most giving time of year. This trailer shows more of Thornton in action — drinking heavily, spewing venom (and puke), getting jerked off, and other raunchiness.

The film is directed by Mark Waters of Mean Girls fame, off a script credited to four people. Here’s hoping, as usual, that the narrative can maintain some thematic semblance of cohesion while it focuses on Thornton’s strong comedic timing and bad boy antics. See the trailer below, »

Watch Nsfw, Mother-Punching Red Band 'Bad Santa 2' Trailer

9 August 2016 9:13 AM, PDT | Rollingstone.com | See recent Rolling Stone news »

Thirteen years after the filthy hijinks of Bad Santa, professional thieves Willie T. Soke (Billy Bob Thornton) and right-hand-man Marcus (Tony Cox) reunite in the film's long-awaited sequel. The first trailer finds that disgruntled duo talking business at a diner, as Marcus teases a new job with a potential windfall of "millions." Fittingly, Soke fires back with a racist one-liner.

Overall, the clip is light on plot and heavy on button-pushing quips — like Soke, dressed in his familiar Santa attire, spouting profanity at passerby ("Ho, ho, merry Christmas. Feed the starving children. »

The 20 Best R-Rated Comedies of the Last 20 Years

2 August 2016 9:00 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Let’s acknowledge it up front: Rating films for their content is a dubious process at best and a dangerous one at worst. Trying to place disparate, diverse films into a handful of age-based categories has rarely come without controversy, especially when the MPAA ratings board deems a hint of language and nudity untenable while excusing wide swaths of violence for lower classifications. Yet, there’s a way that a “R” rating has become shorthand for a specific type of comedy. Geared toward older viewers (or those on the precipice of adulthood), these are the laugh-based moviegoing experiences so confident in their own ability to attract an audience that they’re willing to accept what some might see as a theatrical release stigma.

These are films that luxuriate in moving swiftly past their allotment of one, non-sexual use of everyone’s favorite four-letter “f word,” further flaunting their disregard for »

Seasonal Antics Take Center Stage In First Wave Of Images For Bad Santa 2

It’s the festive sequel that even those on the nice list believed to be wishful thinking at first, but after years of fostering pent-up demand, Bad Santa 2 is on course to storm theaters this November, and it’ll come packing all of the R-rated seasonal shenanigans that ensured the 2003 original went down as a cult hit.

Back in the fluffy red suit is Billy Bob Thornton – the poor man’s Father Christmas – as he gears up for another festive season of booze drinking and spewing a series of empty promises. That’s a snarky attitude that permeated through last week’s riotous first teaser, one designed to shed light on Bad Santa 2‘s ensemble cast.

Check Out The First Images From Bad Santa 2

2 August 2016 6:02 AM, PDT | www.themoviebit.com | See recent TheMovieBit news »

Bad Santa is probably one of the finest dark comedies of the 2000’s, and now thirteen years on, Billy Bob Thornton is once again pulling on the fake beard and red outfit as the foul mouthed Willie T. Stoke as he returns, along with his angry sidekick Marcus (Tony Cox) and ‘the kid’ Thurman Merman (Brett Kelly), to pull off another Christmas time heist. Joining the trio this time round in their criminal endeavours is Willie’s mother Sunny (Kathy Bates), whose involvement somehow lowers the quality of their criminal behaviour. While a sequel to Bad Santa is something I don’t think we ever wanted, the prospect is one that does raise a little bit of a smile. Mean Girls director Mark Waters is at the helm this time round, promising a slight change in gear from original helmer Terry Zwigoff, but bringing the old gang back together is »
