Meet The Man will.i.am Stole A Song From

23 May 2013 10:28 AM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

Dance music fans have long been acquainted with Arty, but it wasn't until will.i.am nicked one of his songs that mainstream audiences were introduced to the 23-year-old German DJ and producer. Arty made the song in question, "Rebound," with Mat Zo and signed it to Anjunabeats, one of dance music's most respected labels, only to see it sampled liberally in the Black Eyed Peas frontman's track "Let's Go."

What's followed since has been somewhat amusing for music fans, as Anjunabeats' Jono Grant (of Above & Beyond fame) blasted will.i.am, who eventually admitted to using the song without licensing it. Then Chris Brown, who lends his vocal talents to "Let's Go," said he's clueless and doesn't even listen to the some of the tracks he sings on, Mat Zo quit Twitter and Arty was included will.i.am's liner notes. While the whole situation provided will.i.am »

Will.I.Am Blasted For Stealing Song

3 May 2013 7:05 AM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

By Ryan Pearson, Associated Press

West Hollywood, Calif. -- Will.i.am wants to be known as a maker – not just of music, but things, from cars to headphones.

The Black Eyed Peas frontman is computer chip-maker Intel's "director of creative innovation." He's also partnered with Coca-Cola to create a new brand of products from recycled bottles and cans, including headphones and clothes.

Not that the seven-time Grammy winner – who produces, writes, sings and raps – has lost his ear for hits. Three songs from his new album, "(hash)willpower" – featuring Justin Bieber, Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus – are now in the Billboard Hot 100. It's his fourth solo album but the first in six years and the first since the Peas became global megastars with hits like "Boom Boom Pow" and "I Gotta Feeling." As a solo artist, he has yet to match the Peas' success in album sales; his latest debuted at No. »

Will.i.am admits to copyright infringement on his song 'Let Go'

23 April 2013 1:20 PM, PDT | Pop2it | See recent Pop2it news »

If Will.i.am's new song with Chris Brown, "Let Go," sounds familiar, it's because it is. Will.i.am admits to copyright infringement on Arty and Mat Zo's track "Rebound" after getting chewed out by Arty on Twitter.

"Arty is a dope producer so I wrote this song to 'Rebound' this last year," Will.i.am tells Kiss FM. "I got in touch with Arty and showed it to him, did a different version to it because I asked him [to] make it newer, because I don't just want to take your song and rap over it. But in a year's time, time's gone by [and] we preferred writing over and using the [original] 'Rebound.' Something happened and the clearance ... hopefully we resolved the issue."

He adds, "I'm a fan of Arty. I think he's great and the world needs to know about how talented those guys are. It's sad that it's turned into »

will.i.am Admits Using Someone Else's Song

23 April 2013 6:16 AM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

Singer will.i.am was accused of stealing Arty and Mat Zo's song "Rebound" for his own track with Chris Brown, "Let's Go."

The Black Eyed Peas member remained quiet on the subject (as Arty went on a tear on Twitter), but has since broken his silence. "Arty is a dope producer so I wrote this song to 'Rebound' this last year," will.i.am said in an interview with Kiss FM (via Digital Spy), admitting that he used the song in question as the foundation for "Let's Go."

"I got in touch with Arty and showed it to him, did a different version to it 'cause I asked him [to] make it newer 'cause I don't just wanna take your song and rap over it," he said. "But in a year's time, time's gone by [and] we preferred writing over and using the [original] rebound. Something happened and the clearance ... hopefully we resolved the issue. »

Flashback To 1996: 'A Thin Line Between Love & Hate' (Martin Lawrence's Magnum Opus?)

12 April 2013 3:19 PM, PDT | ShadowAndAct | See recent ShadowAndAct news »

Has Martin Lawrence given us his best work yet? The 47-year old has more than 25 films on his resume; but I'm not concerned with all 25, instead those few films in which Lawrence Stars, and that depend almost entirely on the success of his performance. So, films like the Bad Boys franchise don't count, because he's partnered up with an even bigger star in Will Smith, in films directed by a mega director/producer in Michael Bay, also a star in his own right. I'd also dismiss films in which he's part of an ensemble cast like Boomerang for example.  I'm talking about films like the Big Momma's House series, Black KnightRebound, and a few »
