Video: 6 Unexpected, Yet Awesome Dance Scenes

Dancing in movies is nothing new, since the early days of cinema dancing has been a great way to perform a scene. However, most of these routines, as you’d expect, are in musicals. Yet there are a few non-musical films that throw in the odd surprising dance scene to great effect. Here are 6 unexpected yet awesome dance scenes.

6. Club Cringe – The Inbetweeners Movie (2011)

For some dancing isn’t easy, but in this case these guys make it look almost impossible. With the juxtaposition of Neil (Blake Harrison) flailing his limbs with some sort of rhythm next to Simon (Joe Thomas) jittering nervously and Will (Simon Bird) galloping his way to sheer embarrassment, this one hits the list for cringe factor alone. The final stage in this act results in Simon and Will choosing to copy Neil and if you ever think that Neil is the one to follow, you’re in the shit.

Watch The Rock Reboot Home Alone, Goodfellas and Napoleon Dynamite

Watch The Rock Reboot Home Alone, Goodfellas and Napoleon Dynamite
It's hard to argue against the logic that Dwayne Johnson is the biggest movie star in the world these days, especially after a report from last year that revealed he is now the highest-paid actor in all 7 continents. The actor even has a pretty good sense of humor about all of his astronomical success, which is proven in a hilarious new video where he's being pitched a number of ludicrous projects by his "agent," played by Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt star Titus Burgess. This video shows what sequels to Home Alone, Goodfellas, Napoleon Dynamite and even The Revenant might look like, starring The Rock.

This video comes from GQ, as part of the publication's "comedy issue," which starts with The Rock coming in for a meeting with his agent, where he says there are some lucrative franchises being lined up for the actor. First up, Martin Scorsese wants The Rock to

Lena Khan’s “The Tiger Hunter” Picked Up by Shout! Factory

“The Tiger Company”

Lena Khan’s feature directorial debut has secured distribution. Deadline reports that Shout! Factory has acquired all of the North American rights to “The Tiger Hunter,” a timely comedy about a young immigrant’s life in the U.S.

Set in the 1970s, “The Tiger Hunter” follows Sami Malik (Danny Pudi, “Community”), a young Indian man who travels to to the U.S. with the hopes of becoming an an engineer, a job that will help him live up to the legacy of his father, who is a legendary tiger hunter, and impress his childhood crush. “When Sami’s job falls through, he takes a low-end job and joins with a gang of oddball friends in hopes of convincing his childhood sweetheart that he’s far more successful than he truly is … or perhaps ever could be,” the project’s logline reads.

The supporting cast includes Karen David (“Once Upon a Time”) Rizwan Manji (“The Wolf of Wall Street”), and Jon Heder (“Napoleon Dynamite”).

Khan co-wrote the script with Sameer Gardezi (“Mr. Sunshine,” “Aliens in America”). The film was produced by Khan, Megha Kadakia, and Nazia Khan.

The Tiger Hunter” was partly “inspired both by my grandfather, who was a larger than life tiger hunter in India, and also from growing up hearing so much about what it was like for so many young immigrants like my father to come to America in the 1970s,” Khan has explained in an interview. “My dad, for example, once told me how he stole a stool sample from some Europeans in order to get an expedited Visa to America! And from there, I interviewed dozens of immigrants who came at the same time, and they had tons of heartfelt and hilarious stories that worked with the narrative I wanted to tell.” Since launching her career in the film industry, her goal has been “to make entertainment that calls attention to some of the more salient and overlooked social issues of our society.

Khan has previously directed three shorts: “A Land Called Paradise,” “The Sleeper Cell,” and “Circumstance.”

Lena Khan’s “The Tiger Hunter” Picked Up by Shout! Factory was originally published in Women and Hollywood on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.

My World Of Flops: Going for the gold! case file #84: The Bronze

My World Of Flops is Nathan Rabin’s survey of books, television shows, musical releases, or other forms of entertainment that were financial flops, critical failures, or lack a substantial cult following.

The runaway success of Napoleon Dynamite gave a lot of small-time filmmakers false hope. Jared Hess’ surprise hit convinced aspiring creative types that with the right combination of elements, a low-budget comedy with an unlikable protagonist, costumes that look like they were procured from a Sears catalog in 1986, and production design heavy in wood paneling could break their films out of the indie film/arthouse ghetto and become a hit.

Like a lot of movies that flourished at Sundance, only to die a painful death outside it, 2015’s The Bronze shares a certain sour, curdled sensibility with Napoleon Dynamite, though The Bronze is the far superior film. The Bronze was picked up for a wide release ...

Newswire: Wedding Crashers’ David Dobkin to direct Disney’s “trapped in a toy store” movie

Disney has been fighting to make a movie about a kid who gets trapped in a toy store overnight since at least 2014, when Will Ferrell and his Gary Sanchez Productions company were developing the project with Hot Tub Time Machine director Steve Pink. By 2015, though, Pink and Ferrell were both off the film, which had been named Overnight At 42nd Street, and Napoleon Dynamite’s Jared Hess had stepped up to direct it instead. Now, nearly two years since then, Variety is reporting that Disney has brought in Wedding Crashers director David Dobkin to helm the project—which is now going by the simpler title Overnight.

Variety doesn’t say what happened to Hess, but it does have slightly more details about the plot. Apparently, it’s about “a father and son who win a contest to spend a night in a lavish toy store” and then have ...

Variety reported “Napoleon Dynamite” director Jared Hess was attached to direct “Overnight” last year but he has since fallen out. The project, which Disney picked up in turnaround from Sony, was originally planned as a starring vehicle for Will Ferrell when Gary Sanchez Productions was involved as a producer.

No actors have been cast yet for “Overnight.”

Dobkin’s has strong comedy credits including New Line’s “Wedding Crashers,” starring Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson; Disney’s “Shanghai Knights with Owen Wilson

Will Ferrell Is a Competitive Gamer in New eSports Comedy

Will Ferrell Is a Competitive Gamer in New eSports Comedy
Will Ferrell has tried his best to branch out from comedy over the years, doing everything from foreign beer commercials to a Lifetime Original movie with Kristen Wiig. But comedy is clearly what he is best at and what brings in the most at the box office, so that is what he is sticking to at the moment. That being the case, Legendary Pictures has tapped him to star in and produce a new comedy about the world of eSports.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Will Ferrell had been tapped for the as-of-yet untitled comedy that will take place in the world of competitive gaming. In the movie, Will Ferrell will be playing something of a fish out of water, as he will be a middle aged guy competing against a bunch of teenagers for large sums of money. Here is how THR is describing the movie.

2004's Napoleon Dynamite was one of the biggest success stories out of the Sundance Film Festival, launching careers for Jon Heder (Napoleon), Efren Ramirez (Pedro) and writer-director Jared Hess. It's also one of those rare hits that permeated popular culture in a huge way and yet they never produced a sequel... until now... ... kind of. Heder and Ramirez reunited for a new Burger King campaign tied to the return of their cheesy tots, an amusing reference to the tots-related moment in the film itself. Neither actor looks like they are completely reprising their individual roles -- Heder seems reluctant to fully go there -- it's like Napoleon gew up and just became your average dude -- but those hankering to see Napoleon and Pedro back again talking about the...
