Game Of Thrones season 6: Bran Stark return confirmed

15 July 2015 1:38 AM, PDT | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Looking for news, casting, rumours and more about the next season of HBO's Game Of Thrones? Then you've come to the right place...

Latest news

This is news we were all expecting, but welcome nonetheless. After a season's absence, Isaac Hempstead-Wright, aka Bran Stark, will be returning in Game Of Thrones season 6. Presumably, that means catching up with Hodor and Meera, too.

The last we saw the second-to-youngest Stark boy, he had finally completed his quest to meet the Three-Eyed Raven and was about to begin another, a training journey with the Children of the Forest which would teach him more about his Warg powers.

Here's what Hempstead-Wright told The Irish Examiner about Bran's return to the show:

“I can’t say a lot but I am back this season, and it’s going to get particularly interesting with Bran. He has some interesting visions."

Bill Hunter bio in the works

14 July 2015 7:03 PM, PDT | IF.com.au | See recent IF.com.au news »

Actor-director-writer David Field plans to pen a biography of his great mate Bill Hunter.

Field revealed his plans on Facebook, prompting numerous offers of help from colleagues and friends of the much-loved actor who died in 2011, aged 71.

Close buddies for more than 25 years, Hunter and Field often discussed co-writing a book but never got around to it.

.We were having too much fun,. Field tells If. He may use the title suggested by Hunter, which trades on one of the actor's favourite expressions, .Stand Where and Say What?.

Field first met Hunter, whose credits include Newsfront, Gallipoli, Strictly Ballroom, Muriel's Wedding, The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert, Road to Nhill, Crackerjack, The Pacific and The Cup, at the Belvoir Theatre.

They worked together twice, in Laurie McInnes. 1993 black-and-white drama Broken Highway and in Alkinos Tsilimidos.s 2004 film Tom White, which starred Colin Friels as an architect whose life unravels after a nervous breakdown. »

Game Of Thrones season 6: list of directors confirmed

26 June 2015 1:30 AM, PDT | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Game Of Throne season 6 has firmed up its list of directors, including Miguel Sapochnik of the magnificent Hardhome...

For anyone curious about which directors might be returning for Game Of Thrones season 6, today an official list has been confirmed. The biggest news, for us at least? That'd be Miguel Sapochnik, who has been bumped up to directing the final two episodes having impressed so much with season 5's Hardhome battle. That makes us think that season 6 might end with a big fight, too.

Notable for their absence once again are previous directing regulars Alex Graves, David Nutter, Alik Sakharov and Michelle Maclaren. Neil Marshall too, helmer of Blackwater and The Watchers On The Wall, won't be returning next time around by the looks of things.

Here's the full list, which also (excitingly) includes Jack Bender of Lost fame...

Jeremy Podeswa

Directing: Episodes 1 & 2

Season 5 credits: Kill the Boy, Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken Other credits: The Pacific, »

Game Of Thrones Season 6 Directors List Revealed

25 June 2015 4:10 PM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

It feels as though Game of Thrones’ fifth season just ended, but already the production is getting ready to start filming Season 6 in a little over a month’s time. It’s a brutal schedule, as showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss spend 12 months of the year in a state of pre-production, production, post-production, or some combination of the three, but they’ve finalized a very important piece of the Season 6 puzzle: the directors. Per EW, the full list of directors for what could be the show’s penultimate season is as follows: [caption id="attachment_478303" align="alignright" width="360"] Image via HBO[/caption] Jeremy Podeswa (Episodes 1 & 2) – Podeswa made his GoT debut with Season 5’s “Kill the Boy” and “Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken” and his other credits include The Pacific, The Walking Dead, and Boardwalk Empire. David Sackheim (Episodes 3 & 4) – One of two Game of Thrones newcomers this season, Sackheim’s filmography includes a number of episodes of The X-Files, »

'Mr. Robot' Star Rami Malek on Making an 'Indie Film' on USA Network and Its 'Iconic' Potential

25 June 2015 7:00 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

USA Network isn't the USA Network you know. Not anymore. Not after "Mr. Robot" premiered at the SXSW Film Festival, taking home an audience award before screening at the Tribeca Film Festival and SeriesFest and getting a sneak peak online for anyone with an internet connection. The thriller from creator Sam Esmail bucks just about every association viewers have made with the NBC Universal cable network, ditching the blue skies and episodic storytelling for black hoodies cloaked by night and a gripping, serialized character study.  At its center is Rami Malek, a name you may not know yet but a face you're sure to recognize — and remember liking. Malek, despite his young age of 34, has appeared in everything from critically-acclaimed miniseries ("The Pacific") to breakout indie darlings ("Short Term 12") to big-time studio blockbusters ("Battleship"). Now, he's taking his talents to USA, a decision he had to deliberate on before signing. »

Review: USA's 'Mr. Robot' finds a compelling hero in Rami Malek

23 June 2015 12:46 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

USA's new drama "Mr. Robot" is bursting with storytelling devices that, individually, have been overused in recent years to the point of irritation. Excessive narration to explain every character, every plot twist, and every emotion our hero is feeling? Check! A hero described in the press notes as a "vigilante hacker," and who spends enough time sitting at a keyboard in the first two episodes to live up to that moniker? Check! (Though at least no one on the show refers to themselves as a hacktivist.) Abundant grand pronouncements about The Way We Live Now, most of them just wrapped in vague anti-corporate sentiments? Check! A central character suffering from enough undefined mental health issues that large swaths of the show's story and other characters may exist only in his head, thus allowing the creative team to pull the rug out from under the audience whenever and wherever they please? »

TV Review: ‘Mr. Robot’

23 June 2015 7:30 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

If casting and character are half the battle, “Mr. Robot” is more than halfway home. Showcasing Rami Malek in a breakout performance as a highly unorthodox protagonist — a socially clumsy, almost feral hacker — the series rivals “Rectify” as Program With the Most Tortured Lead Character. As written by Sam Esmail, this has the jittery feel of a British thriller, and an absurdist sense of entrenched interests vs. a weird insurgency: a conceit that vaguely recalls Terry Gilliam’s “Brazil.” While commercial prospects appear hazy, it’s hard to remember the last time USA put on anything more intriguing.

Malek’s Elliot is a cyber-security specialist by day, laboring away for a cubicle-filled corporation. By night, though, he’s an unrepentant hacker — delving into the personal lives of those who enter his orbit — as well as a drug user and someone so painfully awkward that he freely admits, “I don’t »
