Storyline

Kumar is a businessman and lives in Simla with his pregnant wife, Laxmi, two sons, Raja and Ajay. Both Laxmi and he are delighted that they will soon be welcoming Komal, a daughter. Before her birth, Kumar comes to know that Ajay and the child she is carrying in her womb are not his, but of his employee, Sadashiv, who has killed himself and left a note implicating Laxmi. Kumar takes Raja with him and asks Laxmi to take Ajay and leave. Ajay and Laxmi re-locate to Bombay where Laxmi gives birth to Komal. Years later, Ajay has grown up and gets a job in Simla as a dancer/singer. Laxmi initially refuses to let him return to Simla, but subsequently permits him to do so. Ajay does not know that he will be swept into a web of lies, deceit, and murder where a killer is killing local people on the 13th of every month. Watch what happens when the Ajay is joined by his mother and sister, and the past is all set to open it's ugly head, and lead to even more bloodshed Written by rAjOo (gunwanti@hotmail.com)

Trivia

After the debacle Hum Hain Bemisaal (1994), director Deepak Bahry wanted to have 'Sunil Shetty' as a lead actor in his upcoming film Dilruba. The film was started in 1995 but then was shelved due to a dispute between Bahry and Shetty. 'Chandar Sharma' (Bahry's assistant) completed the film with other lesser known actors after Bahry and Shetty, as well as lead actress Tabu, left the film incomplete. The film was changed from the original romantic Dilruba to murder mystery Khanjar, then released in 2003. See more »

Incomplete film
27 February 2014 | by (India) – See all my reviews

Many times actors leave some films incomplete due to some problem, there are many instances where actors walk out of films after shooting for half, KHANJAR was one of them which was started in 1995 as Dilruba by director Deepak Bahry but due to a problem Suneil and Tabu left the film and it was later completed by Chandar Sharma with new actors and adding the old footage. When I saw the promo in 2003 I was surprised to see Suneil and Tabu in dated look Watching this film is a nightmare, it's like watching 2 different films The film which was supposed to be a romantic story is changed to a murder mystery we have a mysterious killer who kills people on Friday 13 In between we have romance by the newbies and also portions of Suneil, Tabu, Pankaj Dheer which are mixed in between trying to hide the continuity but in vain. There are several incomplete scenes in the film, which try to mix the 2000 portions with the 1995 shot portions. Like in one scene one girl calls Suneil on his mobile, only his back his shown and then the song starts where Suneil comes in his 90s look with his jeep. The relationship of Suneil and Tabu which goes from Inkaar to Ikraar is conveyed by others(as the stars didn't shoot most of the film), Also in one scene Suneil Shetty jumps with a horse to save Tabu and the shot ends suddenly with the shot of Suneil on a horse. In the climax when the suspense is unveiled, we have Suneil Shetty being attacked and being carried away with a phone booth, it's clearly seen that most of that shooting was done later on with newcomers adding Suneil's focus, In between the stunt someone else tries to pass himself off as Suneil covering his face, In between we have old footage of Suneil used, though the fight is in the day his footage is shot in night.

Direction is bad Music sounds dated, yet Baali Umar is a nice song

Suneil Shetty is there for like 20-30 minutes and does his usual stuff he did in 90s, but his dubbing sounds so stupid it makes you laugh Tabu too is hardly there, her dubbing too is odd Amongst newcomers none impress Director Chander Sharma acts as Sadashiv and is okay, Shehzad Khan is okay, Pankaj Dheer keeps breaking into a song and has a bottle which gets to the nerves, Laxmikant Berde is okay
