The film gives no screen credits to Jackie Gleason, who created the original show "The Honeymooners", on which this movie is loosely based on, and also played Ralph Cramden. However the original show itself is credited in the opening credits as "Based on characters from the CBS television series".

When Ed is making a joke about somebody being born in 1955 but turned 18 recently Ralph replies that 1955 is not the year of birth but the hospital room of birth. However 1955 was also the year when the original show "The Honeymooners" was first broadcasted as a regular show.
