The Foywonder's Ten Worst Horror Films of the Decade

The first decade of the new millennium has come to an end, and that means it is now time for film sites all over the web to begin posting their various retrospectives and lists recalling the decade that was. I generally as a rule dislike such lists because they are always so subjective. Then I said screw it and took it upon myself to do one of my own naming the ten worst horror movies of the past decade. Besides, people love bitching on the Internet about lists like this, and who am I to deny readers yet another excuse to get into pointless flame wars over personal opinions.

Of course, this list is just my personal opinion which is not legally binding ... unless Proposition 304 passes. And we all pray that it will.

So its been awhile since we have done an animated top ten or favorites list, in fact I think we have only done one since we have been in existence. Throughout cinematic history there has been many animated films from so many walks of life harping on different genres and different tones from children’s tales to more adult tastes. I have decided to take a look at what I consider the top 9 animated films of all time. I think it is safe to say that Walt Disney/Pixar are the standard and have been the standard for animation for sometime. However films like 9, Ponyo and other international forms of animation like Waltz With Bashir, are quickly hitting the mainstream and capturing the attention of moviegoers everywhere. New Media and Social Media are helping these lesser animated jaunts get noticed by many more people also its becoming more increasingly favored in film festivals like Sundance. »

Mike Judge talks 'Extract': Dinner with the 'Beavis and Butt-head' creator

When I'm offered a dinner with director Mike Judge, there's very little convincing needed.

Not only is Judge responsible for the underrated comedy "Extract"  (available on DVD and Blu-Ray on Tuesday, Dec. 22) but he's also the sly genius behind Fox's Emmy-winning "King of the Hill," the 1990s iconic cartoon "Beavis and Butt-head" and one of the best workplace comedies of all time, "Office Space."

It was a cool December evening when my fellow reporters and I descended upon Joe's Restaurant in Venice, Calif., where a custom-designed four-course tasting menu with wine pairings awaited us. With the help of champagne, the conversation kicked off with talk of Comic-Con, which Judge said was filled with "very likable nerds."

Slipknot Short Film Snuff

AOL just premiered Slipknot’s short film “Snuff” directed by M. Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan and photographed and co-directed by P.R. Brown. The short film stars Malcolm McDowell (Rob Zombie’s Halloween, A Clockwork Orange), Ashley Laurence (Hellraiser) and Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor. The song featured in the film is from Slipknot’s album “All Hope is Gone”. Band Biography: Slipknot is an American metal band from Des Moines, Iowa. See Slipknot's Short Film Snuff Starring Some Familiar Faces

The Grammy-award winning band Slipknot premiered the new video for their song "Snuff" today in the form of a short film co-directed by Slipknot's own M. Shawn Crahan and renowned photographer/director P.R. Brown. The film features frontman Corey Taylor as never seen before, interwoven in an intricate storyline, but he's far from alone as two legends in the horror genre accompany him.

AOL is showcasing the film that takes viewers on an emotional roller coaster ride and is likely to generate more questions than answers. No doubt the question on your minds is who the two guest stars are, and we'll end the suspense now. They are none other than Hellraiser's Ashley Laurence and Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange, Rob Zombie's Halloween and Halloween II).

As promised on Wednesday, Slipknot have debuted their short film for the song "Snuff". The video features appearances by two genre icons - Hellraiser's Ashley Laurence, and Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange, Rob Zombie's Halloween), both of whom appeared along with Slipknot at Fangoria's Trinity Of Terrors in Las Vegas this past Halloween. "Snuff" features frontman Corey Taylor unmasked for the first time in a Slipknot vid, and was directed by M. Shawn Crahan (Clown) and P.R. Brown.

'The Runaways' Teaser: The Key Scene

The first teaser for the upcoming rock and roll biopic "The Runaways" debuted this morning on MTV's Hollywood Crush blog. The hotly-anticipated movie (which hits cinemas in March) tells the story of the Runaways, the all-girl punk band who broke out huge at the end of the '70s and made stars out of band members Joan Jett and Lita Ford. The flick is directed by music video mastermind Floria Sigismondi (Marilyn Manson's "The Beautiful People," the White Stripes' "Blue Orchid") and stars Kristen Stewart as Jett, Scout Taylor-Compton ("Halloween") as Ford and Dakota Fanning as singer Cherie Currie.

We've seen plenty of photos of Stewart with her hair and clothes looking like Jett's, but the teaser trailer provides the first real footage of Stewart in context. Based on the scenes shown in the clip, it looks like Stewart has Jett nailed perfectly. The guitarist has worked directly with »

'The Runaways' Teaser Trailer Hits The Web

As a real life band, The Runaways had a successful but short run from 1975 to about 1979 and has such hit songs as “Cherry Bomb,” “Queens of Noise,” “Neon Angels (On the Road to Ruin)” and “Born to Be Bad.”  The band included the likes of guitarists Joan Jett and Lita Ford, drummer Sandy West, singer-keyboardist Cherie Currie and bassist Jackie Fox.

A feature film of the band is getting ready to hit screens March 19th 2010 featuring a re-teaming of "Twilight: New Moon" stars Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning as well as "Arrested Development" star Alia Shawkat and "Halloween" reboot star Scout Taylor-Compton.

Happy Birthday, Dee Wallace!

Today we at Icons of Fright celebrate the birthday of a genre stalwart, Dee Wallace. 

For more than thirty years, Dee has done solid work in genre favorites such as The Howling, Cujo, The Frighteners, The Hills Have Eyes, and Steven Spielberg's E.T., and she's still hard at work, appearing recently in Rob Zombie's Halloween.  Though not a top tier name in Hollywood, she's popular among horror fans, who appreciate her work ethic and talent.  A convention favorite, Dee always meets fans with a smile, and is more than willing to share stories from her storied career.

On a personal note, I've been going to conventions for 6 years.  In that time, I've developed a short list of people I will get every time I see them at a con.  Dee has always been at the top of that list, since the first time I met her.  She's among the nicest celebrities I've ever met, »

Michael Speaks: The Alternate Ending to Halloween II

As an avid van of the entire Halloween franchise (yes, I even find a shred of enjoyment watching Michael getting Kung Fu’ed by Busta Rhymes), and, as one of only about three people who gave Rob Zombie’s Halloween II a positive review, I was curious to see the alternate ending to his film.  Today, thanks to Shock Till You Drop, we have the alternate ending for your viewing pleasure.

Needless to say, thank God for reshoots.

According to Shock Till You Drop, this was the scene being shot when they were doing their set visit.  I’m curious if this scene was put together just to mislead movie sites such as them or if Zombie ever intended on this being the true ending to the film.

Alternate ending to Rob Zombie’s ‘Halloween 2′ lands online

The alternate ending to Rob Zombie’s Halloween 2 has made its way online and its just as mediocre as the original. We show you both so can compare and contrast.

The original ending [spoilers ahead, matey] showed Michael Myers (Tyler Mane) shot by police in an abandoned shed. After Myers is presumably dead, Laurie Strode (Scout Taylor-Compton) picks up Michael’s giant knife and starts to stab him repeatably. She exits the shed wearing Michael’s mask and winds in a mental hospital where she sees the same visions that her brother did throughout the film.In the alternate ending, Myers has his mask taken off and kills Dr. Samuel Loomis (Malcolm McDowell) outside the shed. Myers is lit-up by surrounding police. Laurie comes out, picks up the knife, screams and is also shot by police. She ends up in the asylum, same as the original. Halloween 2 will be released on »

Alternate Ending To Halloween II Just As Stupid As The Original Ending

I'm not sure why I didn't review Halloween II. For some odd reason I never wrote one. I would have given it a C-, same as Ron did, but that's because it's the same movie as the first Halloween, a movie I did review. The alternate ending for Halloween II has posted on YouTube and it's just as lame as the real ending. Michael dies (again) but this ending has him screaming the word "Die!" with his mask off, looking like Zakk Wylde from Black Label Society. And don't even get me started on the stupid horse and "Love Hurts" song in the background.Thankfully, this will be the end of any more Rob Zombie Halloween movies. (Though he is credited as being a writer for Halloween III. Not sure if that's true or not. Like it matters.) Hollywood will be going in a new direction to further continue screwing up the franchise. »

Because you demanded it! I could rant on with unfettered snark again about the atavistic loathing of Rob Zombie's Halloween series (Rotten Tomatoes has the second one at 21%), but that's a bit tired, no? As I mentioned before, I enjoyed the first one, but haven't yet had a chance to dive into the sequel, which most people have branded as excrement. Like old Mike Myers himself, it just won't go away. It's what we're saddled with, so eat it, like it, and get ready for a third helping.

For those of you new to horror, Halloween II tells of the tale of an emo hobo named Michael who has a serious mad-on for his family, particularly his sister, Laurie Strode (Scout Taylor-Compton). He returns to his hometown of Haddonfield, Illinois, and gets all stabby.

New poster for Kristen Stewart’s ‘The Runaways’ lands online: Does it suck?

The poster for Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning’s new rock biopic, The Runaways, is making its way on online, giving viewers their first look at guitars and legs.

Written and directed by Floria Sigismondi, The Runaways is based on the ’70s all-girl rock band of the same name, which were brought together in late 1975 by impresario Kim Fowley. Along with Stewart as Joan Jett and Fanning as Cherrie Currie, Scout Taylor-Compton (Halloween ‘07, H2: Halloween 2) plays Lita Ford.

What Has Werner Herzog Done Now?

It seems like Werner Herzog never sleeps. The 67-year-old Bavarian buccaneer of cinema astounded hungry-eyed cinephiles back in 2005 when he had four documentary features in theaters ("The White Diamond," "Wheel of Time," the decade best "Grizzly Man" and the sci-fi quasi doc "Wild Blue Yonder"). This fall, Herzog's again kept our senses busy with back-to-back narratives: first up was "The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans," a hilariously addled live-action Nicolas Cage cartoon destined for the cult classics shelf.

Equally nervy is "My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done," which Herzog himself has called "a horror film without the blood, chainsaws and gore." Weinstein Co. Wants New Pitches for Halloween 3D

Back in September, Screen Rant shared news that Halloween 3D, the third film in the new Halloween franchise, was dead in the water. At the time, word from The Weinstein Company was that the film was coming together too fast and they wanted to take more time on creating a movie that was not only good, but bankable. Now, we’ve gotten word from Bloody-Disgusting that Halloween 3D might be back on its feet, but not necessarily with the same writer or director on board.

According to Bd, The Weinstein Company is actively seeking new pitches for the film and the franchise in general. While this doesn’t necessarily exclude the previous writer and director duo of Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier (who collaborated on My Bloody Valentine 3D) from being a part of the film, it definitely calls their involvement into question.
