What is the average tenement-dwelling Hungarian (Kroly Gesztesi) and his wife (Tnde Szalontay) dreaming about? Naturally about riches, splendour, and sunshine. In short: about Las Vegas. And since the mans father (Levente Kirly) has been an American citizen for some thirty years, the couple finally take heart and all their collected money to embark upon the great adventure. They fly across the ocean, and start a new life in the Land of Promise accompanied by their rebellious adolescent daughter. To tell the truth, they barely speak English. They know about America only as much as can be known from films and television, but at least they can trust papa Jen. That is, until the family reunion. Jens character unites the typical Las Vegas pensioner and the xenophobic Hungarian. As the proud owner of a junkyard, he is a man of real survival skills. A desert philosopher whose countless trivial monologues occasionally might even contain a gem of wisdom or two. His house in Vegas, more closely viewed is really only a shed in the desert surrounded by artificial grass. The newcomers have to find happiness on their own, as nobody will offer it ready-made. Thus, they try the best they can
