Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that, instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, you use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

2/10

Shows a young man's buttocks a couple of times (for comic effect)

some other mild sexual references

Violence & Gore

7/10

A lot of violence, both stylized and "real".

In the opening scene there is one non-bloody severed leg and a woman gets shot with a shotgun.

A character gets his back broken (not shown) and foam comes out of his mouth.

The gang of antagonists is the "axe gang" carrying around axes as a weapon. Many-on-one axe attacks against an unarmed opponent are shown.

A man's head is hit so hard it twists around 360 degrees, killing him. (Shown but stylized.)

A man is decapitated and a cat is cut in half by "magic forces", both are only seen as shadows on a wall.

Mother and child get soaked in gas and a burning lighter is thrown at them. (It's caught by a character mid-air before it ignites them.)

A boy gets beaten up by a gang of boys and they urinate on his head.

There is a lot of violence but nothing overly graphic/gory. Some blood overall but mostly just from small cuts and bruises. Some violent scenes are comic, but some are gore. Not suitable for children.

Blood is seen flowing from a door in an asylum. This is a direct reference to "The Shining", which Stephen Chow said to be one of his favourite movies.

A man is very disturbingly beaten and his head is punched so hard it goes into the floor. This is one of the more violent scenes in the film

Overall the tone of the film is very lighthearted, and much of the violence is played for laughs - think of this film as a relatively bloody martial-arts film mixed with a slapstick comedy

Profanity

4/10

1 F-word in subtitles, and several other milder expletives.

3/10

The main character scrounges on the ground for cigarettes.

A protagonist character is a chain-smoker.

General alcohol consumption

Some of the stylized scenes may be too intense for younger children. The scene where Sing is very brutally beaten up and mutilated and believed to be dead is very disturbing as he is the main character. Probably not suitable for children under 13.
