Try Taking This "Journey To The West"

7 July 2014 9:01 PM, PDT | JustPressPlay.net | See recent JustPressPlay news »

The latest film, Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons, from prolific filmmaker Stephen Chow serves as a (very loose and comedic) prequel to the 16th century classic Chinese novel Journey to the West. Told in a highly comedic Kung Fu style, Journey to the West embraces religious beliefs in one man’s quest to rid the world of demons and their evil influences. A mighty tall order for anyone, especially this meek, yet eager, young man Xuan Zang (Wen Zhang) whose unkempt, dusty hair is extremely distracting.

Salt and Pepper: Top 10 Black and White Movie Tandems

5 July 2014 8:54 PM, PDT | SoundOnSight | See recent SoundOnSight news »

When mixing black and white movie characters as either friends or foes on the big screen should not produce any gray areas at all. Whether amiable or adversarial the pairing of interracial tandems makes for an interesting sociological study in cinema where tension, togetherness, stereotypical profiling and mutual or reluctant acceptance makes for some captivating film fodder.

Sure, in many ways it is an overused cliched in the movies to produce racial tandems for the sake of the entertainment to allow the creative juices to overflow. In Salt and Pepper: Top 10 Black and White Movie Tandems we will take a look at various “salt and pepper” teams as they come together in the name of law and justice, hostile necessity, friendly frivolity or professional attachment to bring movie audiences a sense of adventure and curiosity in the name of comedic or dramatic license. Maybe you have your favorite cultural »

‘So You Think You Can Dance’ Champ Will Win Role on Broadway

3 July 2014 9:43 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

After nabbing the title of America’s Favorite Dancer on “So You Think You Can Dance,” the next winner of the Fox reality competish might go out “On the Town.”

Producers of the fall Broadway revival of “On the Town” will offer the upcoming winner of the current cycle of “So You Think You Dance” a part in the tuner as part of the series’ prize package. On the next episode of the show, the stage musical’s choreographer, Josh Bergasse (“Smash”), will choreograph a performance of opening number “New York, New York” featuring the 20 finalists in competition on “Sytycd” this season.

Casting for the musical, which opens in October, has already been set. The “Sytcd” winner would join the tuner in the spring, assuming that sales for the production are strong enough to sustain it for that long. No role has been specified, although the part seems likely to be a dance-centric chorus gig. »

'X-Men: Days of Future Past': Oh God, let's talk about that ending (Spoilers!) (Analysis!) (Future!) (Past!)

23 May 2014 1:00 PM, PDT | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

Let’s get two things out of the way here: I really liked X-Men: Days of Future Past. And I have complicated feelings about the X-Men movies, but one thing that doesn’t bother me is their screwy internal chronology. I am not a a continuity pedant; the fact that X-Men: First Class directly overrules several parts of X-Men 1 doesn’t lessen my enjoyment of either of them.

So what follows is not meant to nitpick the plot of Future Past. Rather, this is an inquisition, an attempt to seriously understand what the space-time continuum really looks like after it »
