The time has come to close on one of the biggest years in comic books we have seen for a while. Companies saw massive shake-ups to connect with new audiences, while some sadly didn’t survive the year. Countless news stories hit our TV screens and computer monitors that would affect every comic book reader out there in one-way or another. This is the top ten comic book news stories of 2011.
10) Draw The Line At $2.99
This may seem like a meaningless point now that the New 52 is in full swing but in January of this year comic readers were in glee when DC announced their new “Draw The Line at $2.99” campaign, one that would return all of their monthly books to a $2.99 price point (while moving from 22 pages to 20, per issue to balance production costs).
In the past few years the comic industry has seen a strong escalation in ongoing »

The first time you watched the theatrical trailer for The Dark Knight Rises, a ton of questions obviously popped onto your head. For me, one of them was, "Why is Bruce Wayne in prison again?" In Batman Begins, the young Mr. Wayne was in prison punishing himself for the fate of his parents only to come out of the experience stronger than before and on his way to becoming the Caped Crusader. In The Dark Knight Rises trailer, we see Bruce walking into an almost Inception-esque room filled with staircases and chanting prisoners. "What does that mean?" asks Bruce. "Rise," says a knowing prisoner. As fans, we can ask the same question, "What does that mean?" A new article written on the set of The Dark Knight Rises offers up a significant clue but, of course, it should be considered a massive spoiler. Read it, along with new details about Catwoman's suit, »

Directed by: Christopher Nolan
Starring: Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway
Rating: Not Yet Rated
Release Date: July 20, 2012
Trailer Score: 8/10
Thoughts by Tsr: Batman Begins and The Dark Knight are both in my top tens of their respective years. Due to that, The Dark Knight Rises is one of the 2012 releases I’m most looking forward to – though it’s not at the top of that hypothetical list. This (rather ominous) trailer was never going to be able to hugely affect my feelings on the film, but I’m happy to find it mostly satisfying.
There is one part of this trailer I can’t stand, but first I want to touch on the good stuff. Number one is Tom Hardy as Bane, who is certainly a formidable foe to Gotham. I love his look, his accent, and his one line is probably my favorite moment in the trailer. »

Hey all, I re-watched Captain America earlier, and thought to myself, this could have been sooo much better. Red Skull was one of the shittest villain's I've seen in a Cbm. It wasn't thought-provoking or anything. A good movie, nothing more. You're probably wondering why I'm talking trash about a good movie. I'd just like to address the Marvel Vs DC war for a sec, as it's how I need to start the Editorial. What people fail to realise is that there are 2 types of Cbm. There's the fun, action-orientated ones that aren't meant to make you think about themes and deeper meaning's. And there are the one's with all that. Some examples of the former are Thor, Iron Man 2, Captain America, X-Men and Spider-Man, while some examples of the latter are Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, X-Men: First Class and V for Vendetta. Obviously not everybody wants to »

Our weekly round-up of the big news stories from the world of movie superheroes…
Warner Bros. gave Batman fans an early Christmas present this past Monday with the online release of the second theatrical trailer for The Dark Knight Rises and – with anticipation for Christopher Nolan’s Gotham swansong reaching fever pitch - it quickly went on to shatter the iTunes record previously held by Marvel’s The Avengers as it amassed a whopping 12.5m views in just 24 hours. The trailer delivered on pretty much every level, giving us a tantalising glimpse at what appears to be some epic action sequences, along with a look at the majority of the cast in action, including Christian Bale (Bruce Wayne / Batman), Tom Hardy (Bane), Gary Oldman (Commissioner Gordon), Michael Caine (Alfred), Marion Cotillard (Miranda Tate) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (John Blake), along with a Batman Returns-style introduction to Anne Hathaway’s Selina Kyle. »

2011 is about to come to a close and as I am prepping my Top 10 list of movies of the last year I decided to take a break and share my Top 10 most anticipated film of 2012. Next year looks like an amazing year of movies and there are a ton of great films being released including one of my most anticipated movies of all time, and with that I'll start off with my number one most anticipated film...
1. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
This is a film adaptation I've been waiting to see since I first read The Hobbit as a little kid. As big of a fan as I am of The Lord of the Rings, I have always had a much deeper connection with The Hobbit. I'm so happy and excited that Peter Jackson ended up taking the director's chair; there's no doubt he's going to pull off another magnificent Middle Earth story. »

Warner Bros. has released a bunch great high resolution images from Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises. We've seen many of these images already but not in this high resolution glory. There's a lot of great little details that you can pick out in these images.
Like the rest of you I'm extremely excited to see this movie! I thought the 6-Minute prologue was epic, regardless of Bane's voice issues. The trailer that was released was amazing, and there was a pretty cool little Easter egg that was discovered revolving around Selina Kyle’s necklace.
The movie is set to hit theaters on on July 20th, 2012.
Here's the synopsis:
Warner Bros. Pictures' and Legendary Pictures' "The Dark Knight Rises" is the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan'sBatman trilogy, Leading an all-star international cast, Oscar(R) winner Christian Bale ("The Fighter") again plays the dual role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. »

The first full trailer for the movie was released on December 19th on iTunes, and within 24 hours it was downloaded and watched more 12.5 million times! The previous record was held by The Avengers which was released in October. These are both two huge epic films, and I'm excited about both of them.
The question I have for you is which movie are you more excited for more? Dark Knight Rises or The Avengers?
The film opens up in theaters on July 20th, 2012. Watch the trailer again below and you will find the press release below the trailer.
