Storyline

On a cold winter morning Tav wakes his son Samuel at 4 A.M. to help with chores on the family farm. He sternly comments on Sam's work, such as napping while milking, or spilling a little milk, causing Sam to tell his mother how hard it is to please his father. She explains that Tav is just teaching him traits he will need as a man, and although his father loves him very much he finds it hard to express this in words. Sam admits to having the same problem. She says that there are unspoken ways to communicate love, and Sam volunteers, "Like Christmas presents ?" She agrees, but will not tell him how to select a special gift for his father. On Christmas morning Sam goes out to the barn alone (except for the cows, pigs, and chickens) to deliver his special gift in a setting very similar to where the very first Christmas gifts were bestowed. Touching Story For The Family
30 January 2004 | by (Las Vegas, NV) – See all my reviews

This is a rare and unique movie. It was created by a film group related with The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints(AKA: Mormons, LDS). This was a low budget film presented primarily to provide inspiration to families during the holiday season. Though it did not make it to the box offices, its popularity as a hidden treasure moved among hidden ranks. Its message is quite moving for families everywhere.

The story starts out on a farm during the depression, where a father is teaching his son the values of labor and that there will be a day when his work pays off. The son at first doesn't understand why until he has a chat with his mother on why his father is so hard on him. He takes to note that love is not always said in words, but also in strong actions. The son soon figures out wonderful gift to his father.

If this treasure can be found, it is a definite gem to any collection. This is a wonderful traditional film to watch each holiday season.
