A classic example of a CLASSIC

K.M.K. is probably one of the most important Asian series of all time.

Kung Mawawala Ka is acting legend Eddie Garcia's first television series, with multi-awarded director Joel Lamangan and writer Roy C. Iglesias. They have created a beautiful series.

Kung Mawawala Ka ran from 2001 to 2003 (you won't even feel that it ran for 2 something years). The story is like Romeo & Juliet (minus the ending) with Rosa Camilla and Carlito (Sunshine Dizon and Cogie Domingo). The series is not all "love love love", the story also have a political conflict.

Eddie Garcia plays Governor Montemayor, who has three "wives" - the legal wife Iluminada (Liza Lorena) whom he has three children (Princess Punzalan, Raymond Bagatsing & Alessandra de Rossi), the mistress Czarina (Gloria Diaz) whom he has two children (Ara Mina & Sharmaine Arnaize) with, and the true love Alicia (Hilda Koronel): the mother of Rosa Camilla.

Carlito is the son of Governor Montemayor's rival in power. The series began with an attempt murder on Governor Montemayor's life, leaving almost everyone a suspect.

Liza Lorena and her children in the series played great villains in the story, especially Princess Punzalan and Alessandra de Rossi. I was quite surprise of Ara Mina's acting considering that she is a bold star, she was really good. Gloria Diaz and Hilda Koronel were both excellent. This was the series that made Sunshine Dizon and Cogie Domingo big drama artists.

But, the show, for me, belonged to Eddie Garcia's excellent portrayal of a dying man fixing his love life, fixing his conflicted job and preventing his daughter from the rival's son.

The direction was excellent, kudos Mr Lamangan. The story was beautiful, kudos too to you Mr Iglesias. I can't wait for Mr Lamangan and Mr Iglesias next team up. Having the whole POLITICAL BACKDROP makes the series unique in many ways.

And finally, kudos to GMA-7 for making an excellent television series!
