Storyline

A celebration of life and family. An old woman on Brasil's seacoast has raised a chicken with care and attention. She walks all the way to town to sell it. She finds a buyer after several failures. Then she goes to a drug store to buy her grandson, who's a muscular hard-working and unmarried fisherman, a birthday present. The present she chooses, her slow walk home, his arrival from a day on the sea, and the giving of the gift complete the story. He showers and she sings. Written by <jhailey@hotmail.com>

charming

The old woman is charming! There is poetry, song, dance, kindness. Poverty does not squelch the human spirit!

I love the simple poetry of the images and words. The old woman is a sprite, graceful and open to life!

In the old woman's steps one sees many of the dynamics of life in a small town. Many topics are presented: poverty, education, the future of youth, marriage, gossip and lack of compassion, poetry of handsome fishermen.

It's a small unique perspective of the curious creatures humans are.

All in all a beautiful film!
