The 50's giant bug movies are still alive...
27 December 2004 | by (Canada) – See all my reviews

I watched this one a few nights ago with my brother & although the film tried to be scary it failed. The story has six people crashing their Airplane (a model Plane as you can tell when looking at it, since they had too low a budget to actually afford a real one to shoot in). in the middle of the woods, after a meteor hits earth. The group escapes the fiery wreckage amazingly without a scratch & take up with some old hunter in a cabin, where they are then forced to deal with clay motion spiders, instead of those awful CGI spiders that most hack film makers use in their giant bug movies. The acting was terrible, with the exception of the lead hero & his female partner. The rest of the cast was annoying & I could not wait for the spiders to eat them up just so they were out of the way. Some of the scenes were also pretty funny, & the stop motion animation effects were well done. Fun for fans of those ultra cheesy 1950's giant bug B-movies, but others are advised to skip it.
