2010 Greggys: ‘Glee’s’ Jane Lynch is Female Star of the Year

31 December 2010 1:40 PM, PST | Hollywoodnews.com | See recent Hollywoodnews.com news »

By Greg Hernandez

HollywoodNews.com: It’s not like Jane Lynch suddenly became more talented this year – 2010 just happened to be the year when the world decided to really take notice.

The gifted actress who we had long loved from Christopher Guest movies including ‘Best in Show’ and ‘For Your Consideration,’ had been delivering stand-out performances in increasingly high-profile movies (‘40 Year Old Virgin,’ ‘Talladega Nights’) and TV shows (‘Boston Legal,’ ‘Two and a Half Men’) when along came the role of a lifetime: Sue Sylvester in ‘Glee.’

In 2010, Jane turned 50 and found herself a superstar. She landed on the cover of magazines, won the Emmy Award for ‘Glee’ and had her talents on full display during last spring’s Madonna episode when she eplicated The Material Girl’s performance in the famous video for “Vogue.”

Through all of this mainstream success, Jane has not for a second turned her back »

HollywoodNews.com: Recently there were rumors that Charlie Sheen had died in a snowboarding accident, but the ‘Two and a Half Men’ star is taking it all very lightly.

Sheen joked about what he did after the news broke: “When I heard on the news that I had died the other day, I quickly ran to my PC and checked the ratings for my show,” reports People. But what did the actor find? “Hmmm … that’s odd, all the numbers appeared solid,” Sheen said about everything being good with the show.

He then joked that he was relieved to hear that the rumor was about his literal death. Sheen then apparently made a phone call to his mom.

Sheen Called Mother After Death Hoax

31 December 2010 12:06 AM, PST | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Charlie Sheen rushed to call his mother when false reports of his death surfaced over Christmas - to assure her he is still alive and well.

A death hoax story, which surfaced online on Sunday, suggested the Two And A Half Men star had died in Switzerland after crashing into a tree at the Zermatt ski resort.

His ex-wife Denise Richards moved quickly to clear up the rumour, insisting Sheen did not spend Christmas in Europe and was on his way to see their two daughters when the story broke.

Now Sheen has opened up about the false gossip, joking he initially thought the 'death' reports were linked to the ratings of his hit TV show Two & A Half Men - and he was quick to call his mother Janet to reassure her he had come to no harm.

He tells The Insider, "When I heard on the news that I had died the other day, I quickly ran to my PC (computer) and checked the ratings for my show. Hmmm...that's odd, all the numbers appeared solid. Perhaps even up a bit.

"You can only imagine my relief when I discovered shortly afterward that they were referring to my actual literal death... I then quickly called my mom." »

Two And A Half Men Staff Handed Christmas Ipads

30 December 2010 4:12 AM, PST | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Charlie Sheen and his Two And A Half Men co-stars reportedly handed every crewmember an Apple iPad for Christmas as thanks for their contribution to the award-winning series.

The actor's involvement with the hit show was in doubt following a bust-up with his wife Brooke Mueller on Christmas Day last year which left him facing criminal charges - putting the staff's jobs at risk.

He agreed to sign on for more episodes of the series until 2012 - and to reward the loyal Two And A Half Men crew, Sheen and his fellow screen stars gifted every worker with this year's must-have gadget, according to Deadline.com.

In August, Sheen was sentenced to 30 days in jail in relation to the Mueller incident, which was suspended pending his completion of a court-ordered rehab programme in Malibu, California. »

'Two And A Half Men' Cast's Holiday Gifts For The Show's Crew And Staff

29 December 2010 2:18 PM, PST | Deadline TV | See recent Deadline TV news »

Exclusive: It is a happy ending to a rocky year for the behind-the-scenes workers on the veteran CBS comedy series Two and a Half Men. I hear that as holiday gifts, the cast of the show gave iPads to the crew and staff as well as some executives who work on the multi-camera comedy. In addition to wondering about any possible impact on the show from star Charlie Sheen's legal problems, the Two and a Half Men crew members lived in uncertainty for a couple of months in the spring when Sheen declared that he may not return to the show after the end of his contract in May. But he ultimately signed a rich new 2-year deal, matching the series' pickup by CBS through the 2011-12 season, giving everyone employed on the show job security. Now they also have new gadgets to go with that. »

'Defenders' moves to Friday, 'Criminal Minds' twofer on CBS' midseason schedule

22 December 2010 9:15 AM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

CBS has set its midseason schedule, and since the network is pretty healthy this season it's more about tweaks than a radical makeover.

The Eye will debut three new scripted shows and Paula Abdul's competition series "Live to Dance" in the first few months of 2011. It's also moving a couple of its current shows around, giving "Blue Bloods" a four-week tryout on Wednesday nights and sending "The Defenders" to Fridays to fill the spot being vacated by "Medium."

The new scripted shows are "Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior," a spinoff of "Criminal Minds" that will air after its parent show on Wednesday nights; comedy "Mad Love," which slides into the post-"How I Met Your Mother" slot on Mondays in late February; and "Chaos," a drama about CIA officers that will debut on Fridays in April. "Live to Dance" premieres Tuesday, Jan. 4, the moves to Wednesdays the following night, holding »

CBS Announces Midseason Schedule

22 December 2010 7:04 AM, PST | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

CBS is one of the last networks to announce its midseason schedule and it turns out it contains a few shake-ups.  The ending of Medium and some schedule changes will make way for a few new midseason shows.

The first big change is the time-slot switch between Blue Bloods and The Defenders.  Blue Bloods had been averaging a respectable 12 million viewers on Friday nights, but CBS has decided to move it into the 10:00 p.m. spot on Wednesday, previously held by The Defenders.  Curiously, though, Blue Bloods will only remain on Wednesday nights for 4 consecutive weeks.  The Defenders, in turn, will be moving to 8:00 p.m. on Friday nights and is expected to remain on Friday nights for the remainder of the season.
