One Tree Hill (TV Series 2003–2012) Poster

Chad Michael Murray was the first actor to be cast in the show, though creator Mark Schwahn originally wanted him to play Nathan, having seen him in bad guy roles before. But Murray himself wanted to play Lucas, because he felt that the character had a back story he could connect more to, since he also experienced being abandoned as a child.
Moira Kelly was pregnant during the first season, so Karen was sent to chef school in Italy.
Character's full names: Lucas Eugene Scott, Nathan Royal Scott, Peyton Elizabeth Sawyer, Brooke Penelope Davis, Haley Bob James, Daniel Robert Scott, James Lucas Scott, Bevin Evan Mirskey, Lindsey Evelyn Strauss, Rachel Virginia Gattina, Marvin Leonardo McFadden, Sawyer Brooke Scott, Lydia Bob Scott.
James Lafferty is the only regular cast member to be the actual teenager playing a high school student even though he's already 20 years old by the end of season two.
Some plot lines on the show have gone on to reality. -Season 2: Haley goes on tour with Chris Keller and the Wreckers; the actual actors/singers went on tour, selling out concerts throughout the United States. -Season 3: Peyton and Ellie host a concert and record a soundtrack to benefit the Breast Cancer Foundation. The soundtrack was recorded and released and part of the proceeds from the sales of the soundtrack went to the National Breast Cancer Association. -Season 5: Mia goes on tour after recording her first album with Peyton. Once that episode aired, Kate Voegele (Mia) went on tour with Hanson. -Season 5: Peyton tells Mia that she arranged for her to sing at a concert sponsored by Starburst. Kate Voegele (Mia) sang at the "CW and Starburst present Kate Voegele in Concert at Six Flags".
Peyton's Internet address punkndisorderly.com leads to an actual page featuring her art and the web cam.
When talking about casting the role of Peyton, 'Mark Schwann (I)' said: "They asked why I wanted Hilarie Burton, and my answer was, 'She has a lot of pain in her eyes. And I want that pain in Peyton's eyes'. We always laugh about it, because Hilarie is like, 'It's a good thing a lot of crummy things happen to me in my life'."
Peyton, Brooke, and Haley all have children named after their maiden name: Sawyer, Davis, and James, respectively.
Episodes are all names of songs/albums titles. Artists whose album name/song title features as an episode title are sometimes seen in the soundtrack, but not always.
Cast Members Chad Michael Murray (Lucas), Bethany Joy Lenz (Haley), and 'James Lafferty' (Nathan) each directed an episode for the first time during season 6.
The name "One Tree Hill" was taken from a U2 song of the same name. The creator, Mark Schwahn, was listening to 'U2''s 'The Joshua Tree' album. When the song "One Tree Hill" came on, he decided to make it the title. (The song itself is named after One Tree Hill, a volcanic cone in the city of Auckland, New Zealand's largest city. The tree was removed in 2000 after being attacked in 1994, however, a plaque exists there and the location is still known as One Tree Hill, or more recently, its Maori name: Maungakiekie.)
Chad Michael Murray (Lucas Scott) and Sophia Bush (Brooke Davis) met on the set of One Tree Hill and married on April 16, 2005. They subsequently divorced.
Since the start of One Tree Hill, James Lafferty and the cast and crew of the show host a basketball game toward the end of every season to benefit different charities. Along with these charity games, One Tree Hill has also hosted the Hurricane Katrina Relief Softball Game and, toward the end of the second season, the show's members also hosted a charity football game. At all charity events, most of the cast and crew get split into two teams and play. The proceeds of each game have gone to different charities.
The often mentioned ravenshoops.com is an actual Internet page created by Mouth of the fictional Ravens-team of Tree Hill High School.
Haley James Scott's father is name is "Jimmy" which is short for James, presumably making her father James James.
After no theme song the entire fifth season, Gavin DeGraw does a cameo on the season finale and sings the theme song in the first scene, at the piano with Jamie.
Brooke Davis was named after Sophia Bush's college roommate.
In the first season James Lafferty's character, Nathan, is often shown with his left nipple pierced. He doesn't actually have the piercing, they glued it on when he was shirtless in a scene.
Although Haley is the youngest child in her family, both girls who were cast as her sisters are younger than Bethany Joy Lenz in real life. Lindsey McKeon (Taylor) is nearly a year younger and Shantel VanSanten (Quinn) is over four years younger.
The show was originally going to be made as a TV movie with the title "Ravens". It was only when the network decided that there was enough good ideas in the concept to turn it into a complete series that the title was changed to "One Tree Hill".
Jackson Brundage is the only cast member to become a regular cast member without having first appeared on the show as a guest star. He came in as a regular cast member in season 5 as Jamie, Nathan and Haley's son.
On May 12, 2009, it was confirmed that 'Chad Michael Murray' [qv] and 'Hilarie Burton' [qv] would not be returning for the seventh season. This will make 'James Lafferty' [qv], 'Sophia Bush' [qv], 'Bethany Joy Galeotti' [qv] and 'Paul Johansson' [qv] the only four original cast members to be left on the show.
Haley is not shown driving a car until season 5. The first four seasons she is driven around by Lucas, Nathan, Peyton, Brooke, or Skills.

Was one of a few shows in television history to jump the story's time line into the future. They jumped 4 1/2 years into the future between seasons 4 and 5. A couple of other shows to do this include Alias (2001), which jumped ahead two years in the future at the end of its second season and Wonder Woman (1975), which jumped from the 1940s to the 1970s after the first season.
