Jeetendra was going through a lean phase in the second half of the 1970s. He was the third lead in the movie that starred Raaj Kumar in a double role. The super success of Judaai and Meri Aawaz Suno in 1980-81 made Jeetu hot property with South Indian producers and he enjoyed a hit run through the 1980 mainly opposite Rekha, Sridevi & Jayaprada.
When the film was announced in 1974, Feroz Khan was signed to play the lead role of father and son in Karmayogi. He was shocked and angered out of his mind when all of a sudden he received a phone call from the producer that Raaj Kumar was now doing the role. Raaj Kumar had slashed his price and taken advantage of his friendship with the producer to sign the film. Raaj Kumar and Feroz Khan already had a problem past due to Oonche Log.
