Prison Break Premiere Recap — Breaking Down ‘Ogygia’
A version of this article originally appeared on

August 2005 was a much simpler time: The first iPhone was still two years away from being released, Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo was in theaters, and Prison Break debuted on Fox. After two prison escapes, an Ocean’s Eleven-style reset, four seasons, and a TV movie, the hit series signed off in 2009.

Now, with Fox reviving many of its greatest hits (please let Fastlane be next), Michael, Lincoln, Sara, T-Bag, Sucre, and C-Note are back. I know what you’re thinking: “Wait, but didn’t Michael die at the end of Prison Break?

Newswire: Today in no, duh: People aren’t buying or renting digital video

Researchers at The Institute For The Study Of No Duh—a.k.a. marketing research firm GfK—have revealed that a majority of people have never rented or purchased a digital copy of a TV episode or film. (Fun fact: you can perform a similar, if more informal, study, by turning your head to the left and right and asking the people near you whether they’ve ever rented a show online.) The study shows that only 46 percent of consumers have worked up the nerve to step into the digital locker room, with most sticking to their DVDs, or forgoing ownership entirely and sticking to streaming.

Even for those willing to make the plunge, their digital collections are far smaller than the old towers of DVDs. (And offer way fewer opportunities to judge someone for having, say, Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo on display.) Peak collection size for DVDs was ...

10 Sequels It Turned Out Nobody Wanted

There's obviously a market out there for sequels — just look at the summer movie release schedule and you'll find at least one a week. And hey, sometimes a film leaves us wondering what happens next.

But sometimes there are films that had no need for a part two, where audiences left the theater the first go-round and said, "I'm good." And in the case of these ten films, we've got the numbers to prove it!

Hollywood, heed our wisdom: Sometimes it's best to just leave well enough alone.

10. 'Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights' (2004) — Sequel to 'Dirty Dancing' (1987)

• "Dirty Dancing": $62,811,299

• "Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights": $14,140,215

So you had the time of your life in 1987? Big deal. You can't relive the magic 17 years later by conceiving a half-hearted retread set against the backdrop of revolutionary Cuba. Really, this film has nothing to do with the original, save for a brief Patrick Swayze cameo.

"I can't wait to get back to doing what I love, which is being on set and working with a hugely talented cast and crew."

Kelly Brook Drops By Riverside Studios

Taking care of some career duties, Kelly Brook showed up at Riverside Studios in London, England this afternoon (March 20).

The “Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo” hottie flashed a smile for the shutterbugs as she made her way back to her car, sporting a patterned sweater with bright red trousers.

In related news, Kelly’s pal Keith Lemon has officially banned her arch nemesis Katie Price from his “Celebrity Juice” show due to her poor behavior and mean words towards Brook.

Lemon told press, "Katie is never coming back on Celebrity Juice. She was rubbish when she came on before. She was wooden and didn't relax and thought we were trying to take the piss. We were, but that's the point of the show."

Will Muppets 2 leave us feeling green?

With Ricky Gervais replacing Jason Segel and a storyline that calls to mind Eurotrip, the portents don't look promising

The last Muppets film wasn't just a great Muppets film, it was a great film full stop. It was funny, charming, quietly subversive and, unusually for a musical, full of songs that didn't make you want to fling yourself down a flight of concrete steps as a misguided act of protest. During the screening I attended, I saw grown men crying with happiness. Cynical film critics, weeping like children at puppets on a screen. It takes something pretty special for that to happen. Which is why I don't much care for the uneasy feeling I'm already starting to get about its sequel.

It's been common knowledge for a while that Jason Segel – the star and co-writer of The Muppets, as well as the engineer of their return – wouldn't be involved in another Muppets film.

Kelly Brook, voulez-vous couchez avec moi (pour €1m)?

Kelly's attempts to promote her latest film at Cannes are undone by a love-struck French millionaire

You want to sleep with Kelly Brook. Lost in Showbiz wants to sleep with Kelly Brook. Everyone wants to sleep with Kelly Brook! Even Kelly Brook wants to sleep with Kelly Brook. There's no point in denying it. If everyone in the world didn't want to sleep with Kelly Brook, then she wouldn't remain so prominent in the public consciousness.

Since her days on The Big Breakfast, Kelly has been cruelly ridiculed for her acting roles (from "Beautiful Woman in Painting" in Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo, to "Lyle's Girlfriend" in 2003's reimagining of The Italian Job). Perhaps it's her beauty that has undermined her ability to land roles that have actual names rather than vague character descriptions. People are sometimes sceptical about the artistic credibility of people born with uncannily symmetrical features. But probably

Sandler Making A "Grown Ups" Sequel

Whatever you think of Adam Sandler, he has had one consistent trait - he doesn't do sequels. With the exception of an uncredited cameo appearance in "Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo", the comedian has not appeared onscreen in a single sequel in the 22 years he's been making films - until now.

Sony Pictures and Happy Madison Prods. are moving forward on a sequel to Sandler's 2010 comedy "Grown Ups" and have already been in discussions with the first film's scribe Fred Wolf about doing the screenplay reports Variety.

The original starred Sandler, Kevin James, David Spade, Chris Rock and Rob Schneider as five friends who reunite over the 4th of July weekend to attend their youth basketball coach's funeral.

Sandler has no deal in place for "Grown Ups 2" and his involvement is contingent on the script, but the possibility isn't a huge surprise. The first was Sandler's highest-grossing film worldwide at $271 million despite universally negative reviews.

Elisabetta Canalis, “actress lite” (Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo, anyone?), is best known for having had sexual intercourse with George Clooney. And, let’s be honest: that ain’t no easy feat, so good job to her! Taking the next natural step in the progression from George Clooney’s girlfriend to Respected Professional, she’s going to do what any ambitious actress would do: Dance On Teevee! That’s right, she’ll be showing on some fancy footwork alongside other A-listers like Chaz Bono and Kim Kardashian‘s brother on Dancing With The Stars. But before we get to see her roll out her skills on the ballroom floor or whatever, she’s taking her clothes off for PETA, as one does when s/he is an animal activist who is super hot!!! Blu-Ray Reviews: Big Momma’S House 1 & 2 Seriously?!

What a travesty: Big Momma’s House and its sequel are finally available on Blu-Ray and we don’t have a take-over on the site devoted to the release?! Okay, so that’s a bit sharp, but really- who looks at the list of newly available blu-rays and picks either of these terrible “comedies” as essential purchases? Nope, thought not…

At what point in their careers did Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence think it was a good move to become Rob Schneider copy-cats? Both men built careers on the back of exceptional stand-up comedy potential, with some reasonable early film choices, and while Lawrence’s rap sheet doesn’t include as many hits as Murphy’s, there are the odd exceptions where he showed exactly what once made him a hot comic property.

I have a huge problem with any film that uses only the word ‘Outrageous’ as its fundamental selling point.

George Clooney Allegedly Dating Italian Actress Elisabetta Canalis

George Clooney is dating model/actress Elisabetta Canalis, Radar Online reports. According to the site, the "Ocean's Eleven" star has been spending his time with the Italian beauty who had minor roles in such films as "Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo" and "Virgin Territory".

Schneider joins ‘Virgin on Bourbon Street’

Rob Schneider is set to star in “Virgin on Bourbon Street,” a sex comedy directed by Clare Kilner.

Not much is known about the project at this point, but Variety says the film focuses on a university student who’s sexually abstinent but gets into trouble after a night of debauchery.

For Schneider, this is quite the familiar territory; he previously starred in “Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo” and the follow-up “Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo.”

Also on board are Jenna Dewan (“Step Up”) and Brianne Davis ("Prom Night"). Kilner last directed “The Wedding Date.”

Schweiger and Bruhl Join 'Bastards'

Thank the Lord it appears the casting for Quentin Tarantino's Inglorious Bastards may be almost complete as production begins Oct. 13 in Germany and there doesn't appear too many more major roles to fill. The latest names added to the bunch are German star Til Schweiger and Daniel Bruhl, the Spanish-born son of German director Hanno Bruhl. Bruhl and Schweiger join Diane Kruger, Christoph Waltz and Paul Rust who were added to the cast last Friday. Schweiger will play a member of the Nazi killer team, headed by Brad Pitt's character, Lt. Aldo Raine. Ain't It Cool speculates Bruhl may be playing the wily Gestapo major Dieter Hellstrom, or perhaps Nazi sniper-hero Frederick Zoller, or perhaps the German-speaking member of Raine's crew not played by Schweiger. Yeah, a lot of speculation there. However, AICN does have it down to two major roles left to be cast as they offer
