After the Sunset (2004) Poster

Trivia

Jump to: Cameo (2)
Max and Lola's beach house was built from scratch on a beach.
It was so cold during filming of some beach scenes, that the cast members' breath was visible.
The pier to which Max (Pierce Brosnan) ties the inflatable boat, was a set piece fabricated just for the film. However, there was once a pier at this location (Sycamore Cove State Beach) in a different location. Occasionally, the old pier pilings are visible protruding through the sand.
Principal photography lasted for sixty days.

Pierce Brosnan and Brett Ratner were hoping to collaborate on the next James Bond movie, but after that fell through with Bond producers, they decided to maintain their relationship, and do this instead.
The beach house (exteriors) were filmed at Sycamore Cove State Beach, just north of Malibu, California. The structure is the regional State Lifeguard Headquarters.

When Max and Stan are fishing on the boat, Max catches a shark, once Stan touches it and finds out it is still alive, he shoots it several times while telling it the Miranda rights. The bullets should have gone through it and penetrated the hull of the ship. In the next shot, they are pulling into the dock with seemingly no issues with the bullet penetrations.

Naomie Harris, who plays Miss Eve Moneypenny in the James Bond films, became the sixth major actor or actress who has starred in motion pictures based on works of John le Carré and Ian Fleming, both famous spy novelists. Harris' role as Gail Perkins in Our Kind of Traitor (2016) followed her two previous appearances in Bond movies, in Skyfall (2012) and Spectre (2015). Pierce Brosnan and Sir Sean Connery portrayed James Bond on-screen, and have starred in le Carré filmed adaptations, they being The Tailor of Panama (2001) and The Russia House (1990), respectively. Of Connery's 007 Bond films, his one unofficial Bond movie, Never Say Never Again (1983), co-starred Klaus Maria Brandauer, who also appeared in The Russia House (1990). Connery and Brandauer have starred in the same two Bond and le Carré spy movies. Also, Harris and Brosnan appeared in After the Sunset (2004). The first actor to portray "M" in the Bond films, Bernard Lee, was the first actor to do Bond and le Carré. Lee appeared as Patmore in le Carré's The Spy Who Came in from the Cold (1965), which was the first filmed adaptation of a le Carré novel. John le Carré's The Constant Gardener (2005) starred Ralph Fiennes, who played Justin Quayle, and has portrayed "M" (Gareth Mallory) in Skyfall (2012) and Spectre (2015), as has Harris played Miss Eve Moneypenny in the two. Rachel Weisz, the wife of Bond actor Daniel Craig, previously starred as Tessa Quayle in The Constant Gardener (2005), for which she won a Best Actress in a Supporting Role Academy Award, with Wiesz and Fiennes playing husband and wife in that movie.
