Combining epic scope with the intrigue of a small-town drama comes Defiance: Season One, the critically acclaimed action-packed tale of courage and survival. Defiance: Season One will be available to own on Blu-ray and DVD, each with Digital including Ultraviolet™ with collectible lenticular packaging for a limited time only on October 15, 2013 from Universal Studios Home Entertainment.
Defiance: Season One is the first-ever convergence of television and a multi-platform video game, featuring an interconnected world between the two mediums as they evolve together into one overall story. It's 2046 and over 30 years have passed since aliens arrived, changing life on Earth forever. In the frontier town of Defiance, a drifter-turned-lawkeeper, Nolan (Grant Bowler, True Blood) and Mayor Rosewater (Julie Benz, Dexter) attempt to lead the human and alien residents through the prejudices and politics that threaten the fragile peace they've fought for. Watch every riveting episode back to back and uninterrupted, »
Stephanie Leonidas was born in London and is well known for her work within the UK TV industry with roles in Daddy’s Girl, Soap opera Night & Day and Doc Martin. More recently Stephanie has starred in Neil Gaiman and Dave Mckean’s Mirrormask as well as a BBC adaption of Dracula, plus popular crime thriller Whitechapel.
Defiance tells the story of when aliens (referred to as Votans) come to Earth seeking a new home after their solar system is destroyed. However, they soon discover they are not welcome on Earth and a war erupts. After decades of war, a ceasefire is declared when both sides realise they must focus on survival on this new, almost alien planet. The show is groundbreaking in many ways but not only for having a video game release close to the TV-shows premiere but also for being a hit at Comic Con 2012 before anyone »

War is never pretty, especially if it involves an alien invasion.
After a far-off solar system is destroyed, several remaining extraterrestrial races, collectively known as Votans, venture to Earth seeking a fresh start. Unsympathetic to their plight, the planet's nations turn them away, sparking a devastating battle that leaves the globe and environment drastically changed forever. Thirty-four years later, the two sides have called a ceasefire and are trying to coexist in this hostile new frontier. That's the premise behind the ambitious sci-fi drama "Defiance" (premiering April 15 on Showcase and SyFy).
The series finds anti-hero Joshua Nolan (Grant Bowler, "Ugly Betty"), a reluctant lawkeeper, attempting to keep the peace in the small town of Defiance, where cultures clash and internal, as well as external, conflicts jeopardize their existence. To make matters worse, a tremendous amount of technology has been lost. There's still functioning electricity, but no satellites, internet or air travel. »

With a widespread marketing campaign and a multi-platform tie-in video game launching just shy of simultaneously for Defiance, Syfy is working hard to get the word out about their new sci-fi/western series. Now, three weeks prior to the show’s launch, the cable network is releasing the first 14 minutes and 27 seconds of the pilot episode.
From Kevin Murphy (Caprica), the show is set in a near-future earth that has been wrecked and re-shaped by invading aliens. The show stars Grant Bowler (True Blood), Stephanie Leonidas (MirrorMask), Jamie Murray (Warehouse 13), Graham Greene (Twilight: New Moon), and Julie Benz (Dexter) as the residents of a small “border town” called Defiance, which has risen from the remnants of St. Louis.
Here’s the official synopsis for the show from Syfy:
In the year 2046, it’s a ...

Even though we.ll probably never see a proper Sandman film, fans of author Neil Gaiman have been pretty spoiled in recent years, with Stardust, Mirrormask and Coraline adaptations all getting time on the big screen, as well as Beowulf, which he wrote the screenplay for. With the upcoming HBO production ofAmerican Gods still not cancelled or postponed, and Ron Howard.s name attached to The Graveyard Book, it looks like 2014 will be another banner year for the clever Brit. As if those weren.t enough, Deadline reports Gaiman.s upcoming novelThe Ocean at the End of the Lane has already found a home with Focus Features and Playtone, the production company owned by Tom Hanks and producer Gary Goetzman. Carrying on the Gaiman adaptation trend of acquiring great directors, Joe Wright, responsible for drama such as Anna Karenina and Atonement, is attached to direct. Considering the recent success Goetzman »
Movie studios are renowned for their love of sequels, because what’s more marketable than something that already exists? Sometimes, though, an “official sequel” isn’t the way to go, either because the existing property is considered “untouchable,” or because all the characters are dead and the notion of “pulling a Dallas” would be considered a crime against cinematic endeavor in general.
Make room for the unofficial, informal, unauthorized, illegitimate and spiritual successors to some of your favourite movies, then, all of which are full-blown exercises in sheer half-assery. For your reading pleasure, we’ve assembled 10 famous movies and the “side-sequels” you didn’t know they’d spawned somehow. Be that they were created by a different production team entirely or were referred to by their writers as “spiritual follow-ups” to otherwise great flicks, barely one of ‘em is worth a minute of your precious time.
