When Mumble is alone on the ice floe, being teased by the leopard seal, he begins to turn around when the seal jumps out of the water. This references a similar scene in "Jaws".
The opening sequence is an "inverse" version of the one in Contact, zooming in from the universe to earth. The soundtrack follows this as well
