The title music of the film was taken from the film Be-Sharam (1978). This was due to Deven Verma being the producer of both film.
Inder Thakur felt one of the reasons the film failed was because the audience could not accept him as a villain.
Raj Babbar declined the film and Raj Kiran was then signed.
Padmini Kolhapure was originally signed for the film. This was a time when Raj Babbar had just started doing lead roles. he felt that Chatpatee was a heroine oriented subject and an actress of the caliber of Padmini Kolhapure will comprehensively overshadow him. Since he was doing lead roles he was apprehensive to act as second fiddle to her heroine. So he left the film and was replaced by Raj Kiran. Later Padmini also left the film due to date problems. She was replaced by Smita Patil. Media reports said that when Smita was signed, Raj Babbar wanted to come back to this film but couldn't. Producer Deven Verma was very dissatisfied with Smita Patil's uncooperative behavior during the shooting.
The song "Humsafar Pyar Ki Sej Par" was taken from Deven Verma's shelved production "Yasmeen".
