Emily S. Whitten: Bunsen is a Beast!

  • Comicmix
Butch Hartman has a long and storied history of creating great cartoon shows. Not only is he responsible for The Fairly OddParents, the second longest-running Nicktoon on Nickelodeon, but he’s also created several other popular shows including Danny Phantom and T.U.F.F. Puppy. And now here he is once again with a unique new Nickelodeon show, Bunsen is a Beast.

Bunsen is a Beast is a cartoon about Bunsen (voiced by Jeremy Rowley), the first beast to be integrated into the Muckledunk Middle School, and his new human friend Mikey Munroe (Ben Giroux). It also features self-appointed school safety monitor and beast-hater Amanda Killman (Kari Wahlgren) and a collection of other oddball characters such as Ms. Flap (Cheri Oteri) and Darcy, who circle the main pair during their adventures.

But what is a Beast, per se? Well, in Hartman’s creation, even within the Beast world there appears to be great variety,

How Animator Butch Hartman Created His New Nickelodeon Show ‘Bunsen Is a Beast’

How Animator Butch Hartman Created His New Nickelodeon Show ‘Bunsen Is a Beast’
There’s a new kid in school at Nickelodeon, and he’s a real beast.

“Bunsen Is a Beast” is the latest toon series from longtime Nickelodeon creator Butch Hartman, whose “The Fairly OddParents,” “Danny Phantom,” and “T.U.F.F. Puppy” have all been hits for the studio.

Bunsen” tells the tale of a strange creature learning to navigate the world of middle school for the first time with the help of his human friend Mikey. Bunsen just wants to show the human world that monsters and humans can co-exist peacefully without monsters wanting to eat everyone.

“The show’s about every kid’s experience in school about trying to fit in and be popular. Who better to try and fit in than someone who’s not even from this world,” says Hartman, who first drew the characters back in 2009, when he was considering the idea for a children’s book.

“I drew this cover picture of a boy

Fairly Oddparents Creator Draws Modern Cartoons in His Style

If you grew up around the same time as me, you're familiar with Butch Hartman. He's created The Fairly OddParents, Danny Phantom and other many other shows on Nickelodeon. Today, on his YouTube channel, he took some more modern cartoons such as Steven Universe, Adventure Time, and Gravity Falls and redrew them within his universe.

I love when animators do this! Any chance we can convince them to do more?!

Emily S. Whitten: Nickelodeon and Nostalgia @ Sdcc 2016

As you undoubtedly know, San Diego’s Comic-Con International happened this past weekend, and I was fortunate to be amongst the tens of thousands of attendees. There was, as always, a mega-ton to see and do, and it was hard to keep the Fomo (Fear Of Missing Out) from getting completely out of control over the 4.5 days of the con. To stay sane, though, at some point you just have to accept that you’re going to miss a bunch, and focus on what you do have the opportunity to see.

This year, one of my main interests was what Nickelodeon was showcasing. Of course, Nickelodeon is always on my radar, and particularly the current Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series, which I adore. But even beyond the coolness that is the Tmnt, this year, Nickelodeon was focusing on its past – in the best way possible. Through its late-night programming block of “The Splat,

Nickelodeon Gives 10th Season Order to ‘Fairly OddParents’

Timmy Turner will continue to hold forth on Nickelodeon, thanks to the Viacom kids’ network decision to order a 10th season of “The Fairly OddParents.”

“OddParents,” which chronicles the animated adventures of 10-year-old Timmy and the fairy godparents who grant him wishes, is the network’s third-longest running animated series. Only “SpongeBob SquarePants” and “Dora the Explorer” have been on the network longer.

The 13 half-hour episode order will introduce a new character to the series. Chloe Carmichael, billed as a “funny and overachieving little girl,” will get to share access to the fairies and also get to make wishes.

The animated series cast includes Tara Strong as Timmy Turner, Susanne Blakeslee as Wanda, Daran Norris as Cosmo, Grey Griffin as Vicky, Carlos Alazraqui as Mr. Crocker and Matt Taylor as Sparky.

The series is created and executive produced by Butch Hartman. He is also creator of Nickelodeon’s animated series “Danny Phantom” and “T.U.F.F. Puppy.

Justice Leauge Doom Animated Movie Officially Announced!

Warner Bros. Animation continues to pump out movie straight to DVD DC Comics movies, and today it's been announced that they are developing Justice League Doom which will be inspired by Mark Waid's Tower of Babel storyline.

The story finds Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, Cyborg and Batman on their heels when a team of super villains discover and implement the Dark Knight’s “contingency plans” for stopping any rogue Justice League member. The film stars the voice talent of Nathan Fillion, Kevin Conroy, Michael Rosenbaum and Tim Daly.

The DC comics animated movie are hit and miss for me. Some I like other I hate. The most recently film I saw was Batmas: Year One, and even though the animation was good, I didn't care for how it was brought to life. The direction was off, especially with the voice acting.
