Ok So You Think You Can Dance, you might want to screen your choreographers a little more closely. In the last four months two of your choreographers have been arrested for sex crimes. Come on, guys!
Back in August, Alex Da Silva, a salsa/mambo/Argentinian tango choreographer for the dance show was arrested for allegedly raping four of his dance students. Now, hip hop choreographer Shane Sparks has been picked up for eight counts of child molestation. Ouch.
The case against Sparks involves only one person, and goes back to incidences that occurred between 1994 and 1997. At the time the reported acts took place, Sparks was 25, and the victim was 14. The charges against the choreographer consist of six counts of lewd acts on a child 14 or younger, and two counts of oral copulation of a person under 16.
Not good, Mr. Sparks. Not good at all.

Another pillar in the reality TV dance competition community has fallen today. Shane Sparks, a judge on MTV's America's Best Dance Crew, was arrested this morning for alleged child molestation. Sparks, who also choreographed So You Think You Can Dance and You Got Served, will have to dance battle 9 charges including a lewd act upon a child that occurred in 1994 -- a serious allegation that could result in a ticket on the The Hot Sex-Offender-Registry Express. The Welsh-Moroccan powerhouse is lining up a comedy à clef of his stripping days, while Susan Boyle's brother reckons Kathy Bates might be the woman for the Scottish singer's story
The Full Monty was a decent film and all, but it wasn't perfect. Where, for instance, was the troupe of irrepressible breakdancing children? Where were all the oddly patterned shirts? And why, for God's sake, wasn't Robert Carlyle's character a Welsh/Moroccan former goat herder with a catchphrase based on his profound inability to grasp the concept of chronology?
Well, fret no more. All of those problems are about to be ironed out. And, somewhat distressingly, Chico from X Factor is the one who'll be doing the ironing. He's co-written a film with a man who Wikipedia claims is his lodger. It's called Lunchbox. It's a "raunchy comedy about a stripping troupe on tour in Europe". It's based on Chico's own life.

Boogie Town Trailer: Sci-Fi Dance Battles from the Director of You Got Served

Finally, a dance movie for fans of Underworld and Equilibrium! Chris Stokes, director of You Got Served, is back with one of the most amazing and absolutely ludicrous concepts I've heard in a long time. The year is 2015, and in New York City the police chief has outlawed battle dancing after the tragic death of his son. Two rival dance crews (The Trojans and The Warriors) organize an underground place where they can continue their battles, but they are constantly being hunted by the Boogie Police. Little do they know, a secret government agency wants to capture the leaders of the two crews to use their blood to create super soldiers for World War III!
Boogie Town is loosely based on West Side Story, and if this trailer is any indication, it's going to be very... blue. Apparently this trailer has been floating around the web for a few months now,

Fame’s Rookie Director Kevin Tancharoen Plans a Sci-Fi Epic

Before directing the upcoming remake of Alan Parker's 1980 hit Fame, Kevin Tancharoen was a dancer in You Got Served. He has also choreographed and directed videos for the likes of Britney Spears and the Pussycat Dolls. So it's easy to see the progression to Fame, a movie that is one big song and dance.
I tell you that to tell you this. Tancharoen told the guys at Moviehole this week that he's already working on his sophomore directorial effort -- a science fiction film that calls back to Blade Runner, The Warriors and all the way back to 300. No really, check out this quote:
“Arcana is a unique blend of the graphic-novel backdrop – like Blade Runner – and shot like 300, and has a little bit of Warriors mixed in there, with a little bit of martial arts, so it’s got a lot of crazy elements in there. It’s going to be really cool."

"True Blood"'s Tara is a stand-out character

I don’t know about you, but when Sunday Funday night rolls around, all I want are my fat pants, Thai food and some quality time with the supernatural beings on True Blood. Now before you get all, “Oh Sookie — I love her!” on me, let me tell you I could kind of care less about Sookie Stackhouse and vampire Bill Compton. For me, it’s all about Sookie’s Bff Tara, played by Rutina Wesley.
What makes her so special? Well, have you seen her? She is gorgeous and her body is like a brick house. Her skin looks as though it has been bathed in honey and milk and kissed by pixies in the garden of hotness.
Beyond the superficial, Wesley is able to capture the balance of sassy attitude and childlike naivety of Tara’s character in a way that makes her likeable. To be honest, when the series started out,

Over the last few years, we’ve seen some insane, extreme dancing in everything from “You Got Served” to “Stomp the Yard” to the “Step Up” films and “America’s Best Dance Crew.” But you ain’t never seen anything like this before.
MTV is proud to premiere the trailer for “Turn it Loose,” a hot new documentary about the world’s greatest breakdancing b-boys. The flick, which follows six fleet-footed competitors stretching the limitations of physicality as they compete at an old power station in the heart of South Africa, is being unveiled today at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. Just a few hours before the film rolled, director Alastair Siddons called in to give us the scoop.
MTV: You’re about to premiere the film, Alastair. Are you nervous?
Alasatir Siddons: Yeah, this is the big premiere. There’s been a few screenings here and there, but this

Dance Flick
Starring Shoshana Bush, Damon Wayans, Jr., Essence
Atkins, and Amy Sedaris
Directed by Damien Dante Wayans
Rated PG-13
The good thing about the new Wayans family spoof, Dance Flick, is
you'll know within 60 seconds whether or not it's for you. A dance battle begins the movie, with two teams
of dancers throwing out their best moves in an effort to outduel each other.
Roughly half a minute into
the film, a dancer slides across the floor, leg hiked in the air, and urinates on a competitor. Some fifteen
seconds later, another dancer contorts his body and accidentally shoves his head up his own ass.
You either think that's funny or you don't. If you think it's funny, then your ship has come in. And
you're way too easily enteratined. However, if it's not up your alley, the rest of the 80-something
minutes here won't offer you much of a respite.

Wayans dropped 'Dirty Dancing' spoof from 'Dance Flick' for being too dirty

For the Wayans family, movie spoofs are a major business. Sure, they've had box office success with the original comedies "White Chicks" and "Little Man," but their best work has arguably been the "Scary Movie" franchise. (And for clarification, we're talking movies here people, "In Living Color" is a classic entity all its own.) Now, a number of the Wayans are skewering one of the more popular trends in film over the past decade with "Dance Flick."The directorial debut of Damien Wayans, the picture takes on fan favorites such as "You Got Served," "Fame," "Hairspray," "Dreamgirls" and a certain vampire

5 Clips From 'Dance Flick'

Counting down to its theatrical debut, "Dance Flick" has got five new clips available for viewing pleasure. Varied in running time, the snippets help to give more idea on how tickling the movie will be. In the clip titled "No I in Team", for example, Thomas who is played by Damon Wayans Jr. explains that there is no "I" in team which leads to a ridiculous argument.
"Dance Flick" spoofs many dance movies from classic "Flashdance" to recent hits "Step Up" and "You Got Served". The story itself centers on a beautiful young woman, Megan White, and a young street dancer, Thomas Uncles. After her mother dies, White finds herself on a series of misadventures when she moves to the mean streets of the inner-city, where she meets Uncles who shares similar interest with her, dancing.
This parody movie directed by Damien Wayans was originally set for February 6 release in theaters across the U.

Discuss: Does Screen Gems Care Too Much About Black People?

Yesterday's New York Times featured a rather flattering profile on Screen Gems president Clinton Culpepper and how his Sony studio arm reliably turns a profit on its comedy and thriller titles. Despite Culpepper declining to be interviewed for the piece, it goes noted amidst "past and present associates" that the man has a preference for "the white comedy, done black," a supposed genre brought up with regards to Chris Rock's forthcoming remake of Death at a Funeral with an all African-American cast.
The minority-cast likes of You Got Served, Stomp the Yard and This Christmas have certainly proven profitable for Screen Gems, but do any of you out there refuse to see Funeral or The Big Chill, and yet may fork money over if those films were done with a more superficially familiar ensemble? Or do you personally wish for more out of niche filmmaking meant to appeal to

I am still hoping to get together a Summer Preview of my own similar to last year's, but just haven't had a chance to get it sorted out, but for the time being it looks like the studios are ahead of me as today I received some new images from five of Paramount's six upcoming summer releases, which includes three new looks at the May 8 release of Star Trek.
Each movie is featured below with a teaser image and the synopsis. By clicking on the "Browse the Gallery" links it will open a new window, which you can close to return to this article and continue the preview. Overall there are nine new images, but for the most part the galleries on a few of these were already quite large.
Enjoy!

Here you go, folks, it's the moment you've all been waiting for... the first teaser trailer for the remake of the classic '80s dance movie Fame! Are you as excited about this movie as I am? Not only is it another story about kids overcoming obstacles in life through the use of killer dance moves, but it's chock full of nostalgia too!
To be honest, the only thing I remember about the 1980 movie and subsequent TV series is the theme song. That's all you really need... and yep, they've got that in the teaser trailer. So I'm pretty much sold. I just wish the trailer would have shown more of Kelsey Grammer popping and locking. Director Kevin Tancharoen previously had a bit role in You Got Served, and directed some episodes of the Dance Life and Pussycat Dolls reality shows. This is going to be amazing. Fame hits theatres

An outrageous international trailer of "Dance Flick" has arrived. Bringing in new footage from the new comedy movie from the Wayans' brothers, the video footage starts off with a dance battle, which ends with Essence Atkins' Charity giving birth to her talented baby on the dance floor. The new trailer also previews very pregnant impersonation of Juno, making a cameo on the movie.
Spoofing many dance movies from classic "Flashdance" to recent hits "Step Up" and "You Got Served", "Dance Flick" revolves around a beautiful young woman, Megan White, and a young street dancer, Thomas Uncles. After her mother dies, White finds herself on a series of misadventures when she moves to the mean streets of the inner-city, where she meets Uncles who share similar interest with her, dancing.
