Ahhh, the 70's
2 June 2004 | by (Denver, Colorado and Santiago, Chile) – See all my reviews

If you can imagine Roman Polanski's Repulsion remade as a low-budget 70's softcore sex flick, you'll have some idea what this movie is like. A pretty teenage girl comes to live with her ex-stepfather and his new girlfriend, neither of whom seem to notice that she is a psychotic nymphomaniac even after she constantly wanders around naked, asks to sleep in their bed, spies on them having sex, tries to seduce her stepfather, and successfully seduces the girlfriend. The best scene though is her ill-fated encounter with a libidinous bible salesman while her "parents" are in Las Vegas. Not that it is necessarily a good movie. It doesn't make a lot of sense and it is heavily padded with boring scenes of people endlessly talking or pointless tracking shots of the LA and Vegas skylines. But is interesting to see a film like this that actually has somewhat of a real plot and, moreover, isn't afraid to be downbeat or even downright disturbing. It would have made a great double bill with The Toy Box, an even more bizarre and unnerving early 70's sex flick.
