‘NCIS’ Star Brian Dietzen Talks Jimmy-centric Episode, New Showrunners

20 January 2017 6:00 PM, PST | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Halfway through its 14th season, “NCIS” has explored terror plots, assassinations, mistaken identities, and more murders than one can count. Yet there are still new stories waiting to be told, as in the episode airing Jan. 24, titled “Keep Going.” It features Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen), assistant to medical examiner Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard, at center stage. In the episode, Palmer breaks rank and, in an out-of-character move, climbs onto a building ledge in an attempt to stop the son of a murder victim from committing suicide. Variety sat down with Dietzen to talk about the episode, changes to the set with the absence of Michael Weatherly and showrunner Gary Glasberg, and some big news Jimmy reveals at episode’s end.

This was one of the first episodes for which showrunner Gary Glasberg wasn’t around, after his death. Has the direction of the show changed without him?

13 Characters Who Kill Absolutely Everyone with Kindness

18 January 2017 6:00 AM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

As the saying goes, nice guys finish last.

We disagree.

Some of our favorite shows have nice guys and gals that we absolutely love and keep us tuning in for more!

These men and women are all good natured people who go out of their way to be kind and generous.

Whether they consistently love and support their families, smile at snarky co-workers, or are just optomistic, sometimes to a fault, these are the people we wish were in our lives on a daily basis.

Check out our top 13 Nicest Characters on TV.

NCIS Season 14 Episode 12 Review: Off the Grid

17 January 2017 10:25 PM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

Let me tell you, I was genuinely excited for NCIS Season 14 Episode 12. We don't often get to see Gibbs actually do undercover work, but it's always a treat to see Mark Harmon playing Gibbs playing someone else.

So I felt rather unfulfilled by the rushed and strangely pat conclusion to the episode. I sat there in confusion and actually wondered, "Is that it?".

And there were some really great things about this episode, too. Torres's reverse pickpocket was brilliantly executed, though his lampshading of this fact a few moments later was perhaps a bit over the top.

I also really enjoyed Gibbs's ability to instantly call up a past persona when the need arose. It almost makes you wish you could see a prequel series centered around the undercover adventures of Leroy Jethro Gibbs!

Then there was the bit with Quinn's guilt over breaking the plate. Fortunately, Abby was there to save the day, »

NCIS: New Orleans Season 3 Episode 11 Review: Let It Ride

Finally, some storylines get tied up.

Time to celebrate the end of the cartel in New Orleans on NCIS: New Orleans Season 3 Episode 11.

It only took the better part of two seasons to happen.

This episode definitely delineated the differences in approach of the FBI and Pride's NCIS.

Isler is ready to wrap up the cartel investigation after the Justice Department has frozen the assets that Garcia has been using, and let Garcia roam free despite all he's done.

But that's not personal enough for Pride, who confronts Garcia at Eliza's funeral.

I promised [Eliza] I would protect her from you. Now I promising you, one way or another, you're going to pay for this.
