ABC has promoted "Private Practice" writer-producers Steve Blackman and Craig Turk to co-head writers on the series.
Serving under executive producer and creator Shonda Rhimes, the duo will act as de-facto co-showrunners on the program, which has become a solid part of ABC's Thursday night lineup.
Turk was legal counsel for John McCain's 2000 presidential bid before he became a TV writer and has been on the show since it debuted. Blackman worked on "Bones" and "Las Vegas" before joining "Practice" during season two.
The duo replace Robert Rovner and Jon Cowan, who left the series in March. The writers are repped by Paradigm. »
